Re: Hpi gear reduction???

You've have to have a pretty high turn motor as it's a 7.4:1 reduction I believe. The biggest one RC4WD sell is 4:1. I'm using a 45t and a 2:1 and really like it but it won't go very fast, walking pace max. Also from the pictures it looks to have the motor slightly offset, so you might have issues fitting it in the CC01. The RC4WD one is the same width as a 540 can motor and the motor mounts centrally, so it pretty much makes your can 'longer' and doesn't offset the motor anywhere. But you can find YouTube vids of CC01s with the HPI GRU and it seems to work for them. Grab it and have a go, if it doesn't work you're only out about $20.

I'm getting gobs of torque and walking pace with good drag on an 80t ansmann, and thats just plug and play. Another option.

I've used both the RC4WD gru and the HPI gru with either 45t or 55t motors. The HPI definitely has a slower ratio.
Here's a video showing a cc-01 I had using the HPI unit. It sounds loud here but it wasnt greased very much. This is a 55t motor as well.
