Default New Tub?

Well, it may be time for me to buy a new chassis tub. I rebuilt my rig after relocating the servo this week and upon reassembly, the output gear that drives the prop-shaft is slipping badly. Maybe I've had it apart one too many times and things just aren't seating like they used to. Maybe when I filled the holes for the gear cover then re-tapped them I screwed something up.

One way or the other, the gear mesh has gone away.

Any thoughts as to the cheapest source for a new tub? I'm seeing them around $30 w/shipping (Canada) on eBay. Any better sources?

Jim

I've only seen them on eBay too, did you do the bolt through method on the gearbox cover? If not, drill all the way through the screw holes and use bolts and nuts to clamp that bugger down tight.

Oh yeah. Done that. I've got the cover off again. It looks like some of the CA glue/baking powder stuff may have gotten in the way. I'll be trying to grind it down. I'm still pondering a new chassis, though. This one has been a great development and prototyping platform, but she's looking a little beat.

All the gears in the transmission are only held down by the cover pressing on the bearings. Quite a few CC01 owners had have had gears slip or lost gear mesh from running powerful motors or getting caught in a bind. That, and also if you've taken it apart constantly the plastic screw holes start to strip and this starts loosening the pressure put on the gears by the cover. Bolt through mod is the way most people have gone to alleviate the issue.
