Great build, i am definetly going to change the shocks on mine, as for the gru unit, if you want to keep the stock battery placement and not hack into it, i used the hpi 2:5 to 1 ratio, i also got an og outrunner from jrh, that left me enough space to keep the stock battery space, check out my fj build nothing fancy, just the gru placement.

First thread, it's mine

Good torque and enough wheel speed to bump up when needed. The other two are more suited to scale driving and knarly terrain as there is not a lot of speed at all.

I stand corrected, i wrote hpi, but it really is a GD600 unit, and it is 2.5:1 ratio .

With the Official FJ Cruiser build off approaching on March 15th, Official FJ Cruiser Charity Build Off for the Fallon Jade Fundraiser - Scale 4x4 R/C Forums I was inspired to get a little done on the FJC before I tuck it away and participate in the build off.

I mounted some off road lights and swapped the stiff "blue" springs for medium "yellows" which match the OME rear shocks. Lights need to be hooked up, just waiting on my led unit.

Extreme closeup

OME shocks from RC4WD. Very smooth for a scale looking shock. Also mounted up a tow hitch. Solid!

Stance. Sliders to come...

I mounted a Hi Lift to the roof rack. Made mounts out of tamiya rod ends.

I started some metal work on this one to protect the body.

Looks great. What rear 4 link bracket are those? I want to get some for my Pajero, but I don't need the whole kit as I already have links I can use.

Got some done on this one. Im going for more of an overland style so Ill be adding a Manley ORV style trailer soon.

Added a some recovery options to the front. Added a rear tire rack with goodies. The extra weight called for stiffer internal springs in the rear shocks so check that off as done.

How it sits now.

MAN I'm LOVING this!!!

As both an Army Veteran and an FJC owner (2007 model),LOVE this! I'm a bit partial to Voodoo Blue though,I can't imagine why I really need to build me one of those

(our Voodoo leading the group on a recent club trail run)

I did a little wheeling with this one. CC01 rigs are just so much fun.

Everytime I wheel this thing I remember the things I NEED to do to it. Then I put it away for months and never do them. Oh well.

Somebody keep reminding me to do the following:

GRU.

Swap ESC for one with a better drag brake.

New rear bumper with better departure angle.

New front bumper with better approach angle.

Until then….

Ok well I worked on the things that I said I needed to.

I trimmed the front to install a new front bumper.

As I built this rig, I wanted a "stockfish" FJC that is more geared towards the overland look.

Then as I wheeled it more and more, I i realized how capable of a rig it was and the stock look was getting in the way of that, plus the extra scale goodies were adding unnecessary weight.

So I started to hack this one up to get more performance out of it than eye appeal.

Here is the transformation.

I trimmed the fender flares off completely.

Goodbye rear bumper and rear rack.

Making room for front bumper.

New front bumper has an incredible approach angle.

The rear departure is great with no bumper at all.

I cleaned up the trimmed areas and touched up the paint. Now off to wheel it and see how it compares.

A lot of pictures but this thing wheels and has great scale IFS response.

Now to work on getting a GRU
