| 2 brilliant little CC01s
I got my hands on these two little treasures. Thought I'd share the road to greatness with you all. First up, we have this very clean and original CC01 Honda CRV. Only real problem, the tires are perished... No LEDs here, still has the original bulbs for lighting... Next up, we have this little Jeep. Body styling in my opinion is unique, and therefore I probably won't change it. Suspension is modded, 4 link rear is homemade... And behind the scenes, I changed the rims and tires for these 1.55 steelies and RC4WD mud slingers. More soon... |

Amazing scores there Louisbaby. That CRV is the most rarest of them all XC/CC models! As for the CRV tires, the best thing you can do it remove those big 1.9's and run a set of 1.55 with Dirt Grabbers, much more scale. I have some on the way for my CRV...

| Re: 2 brilliant little CC01s I saw the same done on Wyoming's CRV on the Tamiyaclub website, I'm considering that, but for now I want it stock. Tires are not a problem, they are on the CC01 LandFreeder kit. So my LHS ordered a set for me.

Ok so Photobucket seems to be working again... Here is the close up of the Honda chassis: First repair, done using Loctite and black powder. More repair here... Wrong driveshaft, and rear diff input shaft. That will be fixed... Next is the Jeep chassis: Top plate on this one was hacked to pieces. I think the previous owner used a 2 spd drill gearbox. And here is my shock mod, I copied from some guy off the internet. Using Tamiya Lunchbox oil shocks Drop links Rear link conversion But, the links clash, so I'll fix that later... Modified servo mount, quite clever, just poorly finished off And lastly the broken rear diff case, will replace... More soon, I'll be working on the jeep first... |

Got some small things done on the Jeep. Started by changing the top links position and length. I swapped the top gearbox plate with the one in the CRV, just so I can get this thing running. I already ordered 2 sets of A parts trees, but I doubt I'll see them before the new year. This is the chassis as it stands now, with the running gear installed. Novak 55 turn motor... Tazer 10 turn LIPO safe ESC with a fan installed for those long trail rides, and a GR300 spektrum compatable receiver, they work very well... Body on shot And just for fun, a radiator fan... My Hextronic servo should be arriving next week, and the jeep will be done. Then it's on to the CRV tear down and rebuild... |

So last week I took the jeep out for a quick run, she handles like a dream... I have swapped the tires for a set of mud pluggers from RC4WD, and put those tires on my Dingo. More pics on that later.... And here is my progress on the CRV Some of the small details left too do, but I'm happy with the result. I designed my own decals, mainly because I can't find an original set. But I'll have them printed in the new year. |

Nice work, and awesome rigs! Any chance of getting full droop and compressed eye to eye measurements of the Lunchbox shocks on the front of the Jeep? Also curious, about how much lift did this net?

Awesome, thank you sir! I just ordered a CC01 Pajero, with suspension mods in mind. Longer shocks for a little lift and more travel being job #1.

Ok well, to start off, as I said before, I used the Tamiya Lunchbox oil shock hop ups. They have 3 different setups on the back of the box, and I built them to be 93mm eye to eye. As you already saw, I drilled a 12mm hole in the chassis tub, and just inverted the top shock mount. From the ground to the bottom of the chassis in the front is now 45mm. But this will require some grinding of the bottom arms. Full compression is also more than the original shocks, so much so, that the tire rubs the top of the wheel arch. I'll post some pics in a few minutes... |

Pic of inverted shock mounting: Pic of shock Fully depressed Fully extended And a pic of the chassis clearance: Showing a 540 motor underneath it. Hope this helps, let me know if I can show you anything else... |

That's awesome man! Thank you! At least I have an idea of what to shoot for with flipped mounts now. Just out of curiosity, are these Tamiya #50520? Still waiting for my kit and parts. Any chance of getting the compressed eye to eye length as well?

Update time... After a long wait, my parts from ebay arrived. 2x A parts trees. I totally rebuilt the CRV, but forgot to take photos. Not missing much, routine by the manual rebuild. Running both front and rear diffs unlocked, standard Johnson Can, 20 tooth pinion. Got new tires for it too, I'll take a few pics of it later... But now on to the Jeep rebuild. Starting with the steering, I thought it was time to modify the sloppy steering. I scored a GPM steering kit from a mate a while ago without the bearings. So I decided to use some 5x10 bearings instead, and just drill out the steering post. Used my dad's old hand tap to drill the hole Bearings fitted... Steering fitted... Dropped in a set of replacement gears while it was open And finally removed the useless brick And closed it off... And replaced the shocks with my spare SCX10 set Replaced the rear diff cover at the same time And reassembled it all again And finally I changed the motor to a 21.5 brushless. Some outdoor pics will follow tomorrow... |

Thanks. I'm going to hunt for someone getting rid of a set. They'll do nicely.

Ok, well I've been a busy boy lately... Not only do I have a CRV, Jeep, and an unbuilt Isuzu MU, But now I have a Pajero and a FJ Cruiser. I sold the Cruiser body to a mate of mine, and scored the ABS Brat body in another deal. I've wanted to build a Brat CC01 for quite a while now. So that will be my next move... But on with the pics: More soon... |
