| ##i need help##
I've just bought a CC01 LandFreeder and just finished building it and I've got a problem. I have a gear that slips when anything little slows the tires. I cannot figure out what one is the one slipping and everything is torqued correctly. I don't think this is meant to happen and it's REALLY frustrating. Once I found the problem I had a look at the gears and the all look fine. I'm wondering if it's the pinion but cannot be sure and don't know how to adjust it. Any help? Has this been happening to anyone else? |

I'm helping Cammonkey with his build. Yes, it is the gearbox. We were wondering if there was a clutch or an overload but we couldn't find one. We don't think it's a gear slipping cause it doesn't sound like one. It sounds like a clutch but we cannot find one. Any help? Note: It's so bad now it can barely move on flat concrete. The motor plate has two positions for different pinion sizes do you have it in the right slot?

I agree with Crank, check the position of the motor mounting holes for the pinion. Not sure what pinion comes with the Land Freeder. There should be an adjustment cup in the kit to position the pinion properly on the motor shaft. I've heard of this cropping up but usually after some significant wear on the drive train. I'd take the gear box back apart and make sure, using the instructions, that the little white end caps for the gear shafts are correctly installed in the proper places. Don't forget about the bottom gear for the drive shaft also. If it all looks good, find some long screws with nuts to resecure the gearbox cover with. |

We figured it out, a grub screw wasn't tightened properly. Thanks for the help and suggestions though. |

I thought I'd add this because someone else might have the same problem. We found that when we did the test run the grub screw on the pinion gear had backed itself off. When there had been much force against the wheels the motor shaft was spinning inside the pinion gear. We tightened it up and we got it going great. Thanks for all the input from you others. |
