Default Kit Ordered, Parts Ordered, Suggestions???

Long story short, I sold one of my rc's today (slash 2wd) because I wanted to build a scale offroader. I'm a huge fan of Tamiya but didn't want to spend a ton (no high lift, no bruiser) and I love the CC01 chassis. I live in japan so Tamiya parts are plentiful. So here's what I ordered.

Hobby-Smart:
Rubber Sealed Full Bearings - $10 Shipped

Tower Hobbies:
CC01 Wrangler Kit
Hitec HS-645MG Servo - $218 Shipped

RPP Hobby
1.55 Landie Steel Beadlocks
Mud Thrasher Tires - $91 Shipped

Asia Tees
GPM Steering Kit - $19 Shipped

I plan on running/building it with the stock four link for a while before eventually upgrading, I'm more focused on scale right now. I'm also planning on using the stock motor for now.

Are there any other weak areas that need addressed in the build?
Also, suggestions on a transmitter/receiver? I'm honestly not sure what to look for so I'm considering a cheap spektrum or futabe ($60-$70 with receiver)

sounds like a good start to me. I run a flysky gt3b lots of flexibility, it links with my stock axial receivers. picked up my cc-01 used off of the forum here. Built a steering link kit for it. I've got a 60t venom motor in mine the motor that was in it was just too quick. I really like the truck though

Do you think a 80t would be to much? I can get a rc4wd 80t for ten shipped. May order that if it's a good fit.

The 60t in mine still has a decent amount of wheel speed. maybe a brisk jogging speed to it, and plenty of torque. The 80t will probably be maybe quick walk and silly low end. I've never actauly seen an 80t in a cc. My buddy has one one the way already. When it arrives we'll play with it and I'll let ya know.

From everything I've read, the rc4wd motors suck and I'm better off with a integy or tamiya motor.

Ive never owned or run a RC4WD motor but I do have a couple Integy 35t lathe motors and one of them lives in my CC01 Bronco and its great for trail riding but its also way too fast at WOT. I would think a 65t would be about the perfect motor for a mix of trail and playing on the rocks, good wheel speed and decent torque with out having to add a GRU. I run a xl-5 Traxxas ESC just because its water resistant. The traxxas/integy combo powered w/ a 1300 2s gets me between 25 and 45 mins of driving depending how hard I run it. Integy motors seem to last quite a while but they are rebuildable VS the RC4WD motors are more or less throw aways, when they burn up theyre done. Remember the gearing is limited with the CC01 so motor choice is where you want to do your homework.
The next mod to my Bronco is a 65t Integy lathe motor and a micro Mamba for the crawling brake. I also run the mud thasher/steel wheel tire combo from my TF2, the width is near perfect, tire height looks great but the under axle/ body clearance isn't that great, it gets hung up a lot but you can minimize that with a 4 link rear and re located link mounts (easy mod) Welcome to your next addiction...... a few simple mods and aftermarket bits will yield a great all around trail truck that is deceptively capable and still looks pretty scale.

Great post! Very informative. I still find it crazy the run time you can get with such small batterys on crawlers coming from short course trucks. 65T integy motor might just be the ticket!

What is the four link setup that you personally run?
