While waiting for the shocks to arrive, I wanted to take care of the battery opening. Since I will use smaller 3S Lipos, this would only be a source of dirt and mud inside the chassis...

Before

Some 1mm Polystyrine pieces

glued in place

and sanded into shape and painted

Looks great, I'll need to cut my brick like that, and patch the battery opening as well since I'll be using a smaller 2s lipo.

Nicely done. Hadn't thought of that.

Today, the Proline shocks arrived and what a difference they make... Ultra smooth and the right length... Only mounted them up front for now, still need to build some shock towers in the back.

And while I was trying to fit the servo, I noticed that it is a bit too high for the chassis and wouldn't fit without extra spacers. Since the original servo mounts are a bit wobbly anyway, I cut a piece of carbon fibre into shape to provide a much more stable mount and connected it to the sides of the chassis and the single servo mount up front.

Alright, today I mounted the rear shocks.

I didn't want to cut too much off the chassis, so I did it in a similar way to the guys who use Axial shock mounts. Since I didn't have any available, a couple of fiberglass pieces had to do.

With the Proline shocks I'm getting some decent flex

What shaft did you use for the ta06 part? That is a genius mod.

Great job on the front shock mounting, using some leftover parts. It acts like a shock mount and chassis brace. I might have to copy that servo mounting plate too, that's a killer piece of work that...

I just cut a piece of 5 mm steel to lenght, flattened the ends a bit and drilled a 2mm hole for the screws of the Axial shafts

In preparation for the Electrifly GRU that arrived today, I had to cut the gearbox cover a bit. And to avoid the typical issue with the cover lifting itself under too much torque (which is expected with the 400 Watt outrunner), I drilled through all mount points in the chassis to fix the cover with long M3 screws.
And, to make it bullit proof, I added some left over carbon fibre to the cover, to act as very big washers

The only advice I would have with all that CF is that if not completely sealed it will take on water and expand and eventually fall apart, unless you dont ever plan on getting it wet.
I'm going to order one of these next week

Very good advice for all the readers, thank you!
I sealed the cuts with super glue, but usually my cars never get more than a test drive ;)

Still need a adapter for the motor (on order), but at least the rest seems to fit...

Started to work on the steering, to eliminate the GPM stuff (keeping the bearings, of course)

Got a 5mm steel shaft, a couple of Pololu alloy hubs that can be fixed with a small socket screw and some alloy spacers. One of the hubs had to be trimmed a bit for clearance.

And installed

Still need to build some arms on the top and bottom to mount the tie-rods

I'm liking your fresh approach on the steering, interested to see the end result...

Nice looking steering mod. Very curious to see if the modded steering components change the bump steer.
