Default CC01 #5 - Comp Jero

Been working on these a lot lately, have osme Axial burnout and was looking for something different to wheel around. I've had at least one Pajero in the stable for a long, long time. Has had a few looks along the way:

Even was going to do a SAS at one point:

But it was not to be. Liked it best where it belonged - back on a CC01 chassis, #5 in the stable. I've been wheeling a few others out on the trail for the past few weeks and they are mildly modded. This one probably has the most of the group - trying to get as much performance out of the stock set-up as possible, while still staying class 1. So it was time for a few mods and some fresh paint.

Chassis as it stands right now:
Full GPM front treatment
Front diff locked with 6 gears and JB weld (not breaking this one!)
Reworked rear 4-link with SCX shocks
35t motor/4:1 GRU with 20t pinion on 2S
reworked body mounts for 1/2" lift
bunch of other little odds and ends...

"comp cut" on the body, and fabbed up some full width bumpers and a set of sliders. Front bumper was designed for an external winch mount. Not sold on it yet, have to get it all mounted up and decide if it's a keeper or not. Giving the paint time to harden up before mounting.

Trying something new with the colors, fresh out of paint too. Not as orange as it looks in the pics, much darker - flash lights it up I guess. Tires/wheels are TBD (though I like the TSL's) and body mounts will get trimmed of course. Pin mounted this one, last 2 are velcro mounted and while I like the scale effect, it's a pain in the rear in the mud.

Obligatory flex shot.

Just waiting for the paint to firm up for the second color coat and detail/decals.

Moving along...first off, I hate the color combo. Looked ok in the store, but once it was all sprayed on the body, just not a fan. No plans to repaint, basically going to go out and scratch, roll, tumble, and weather it naturally.

Basically done save for a few details. Lights, rack, fix up the godawful body mounts, and settle on a set of wheels and tires. Trying out a few different combos.

with the Mu body....it's very orange!

I can't really picture how your bumpers and sliders are mounted, would you mind posting a picture?

Just bolted to the chassis is various ways. Sliders bolt to the stock running board mounts, and can see how the rear bumper bolts to the chassis in one of the pics below. Took this on of the front as it's hard to see in there

And done....well, for now.

Some trick old school Kyosho body mounts

Finished views. Didn't add any details to the body really yet. Still needs a rack, jack mount, etc. But's it's good enough for a trail run. Color is growing on me.

And flex shots. Re-worked the rear suspension a bit for more downtravel. All swings freely and no binding.

Looks good bud, i like the orange.
I think it would look better with a medium to dark grey trim instead of the gold/champagne color though....

Thanks - i didn't like it at first, but the combo has grown on me. Need to get some outdoor pics, it's more like a light brown.

Had it out wheeling this past weekend and had some serious clicking in the gearbox. Going to have to drill it out/clamp it down - merciless torque from the GRU is popping the spur gear.

I like how the tube work came out. I need to learn how to do that myself.

Wow, was that really 2 years ago?? Holy cow.

Anyway, SCORE! Finally!! Been looking for years.

This is an Xtra Speed 3:1 reduction, which is a planetary style compared to RC4WD's reductions. It's way smoother, quieter, and stronger to boot.

Combined, best drivetrain I've run in a CC, hands down. 3:1 puts it in stock SCX10 territory, and it was absolutely perfect on 2S.

Mounted right up in the 'jero. And a few wheeling pics.

Nice, heard lots of good things about those motors. Never heard of that planetary box those. I finally added rear 4 link to my jero, after a couple years

Time for a rebuild of the old girl. Keeping this one kinda stock (ish). Started with a new chassis since the old one was severely swiss cheesed and transferred all the electronics and gears over. No overdrive or fancy front suspension on this one.

Had this Pajero body on the shelf for years. It has opening doors and hatch, and a full interior. Pretty nice little body - great detail and even had a lit up dash. Couldn't make the running gear fit under the interior though, so I stripped it down and plan to glue it together.. interior will find a home somewhere else.

Do you a motor/gear reduction combo that you would recommend for trail driving and a little rock crawling for the CC01? By motor I mean how many turn?
