don't remember everything I posted here but it was removed

I want to keep my stock electronics..


whats up with this.. they have a really good product...

now I have to change my powerplant!

I've got an xl-5 but it burns up every motor I put with it..

what motors is it smoking? I've got an old yellow xl5 it smokes motors too, unless it's in "training mode" it's in my 3yo sons truck now.

mines the blue one... but the stock traxxas ones and venom fireballs(it literally caught on fire)

it doesn't even really matter though. you can buy a new one(part) and it won't break your bank

what battries and what motors are you running?

to me, it sounds like improper set up.

I know how to set up a speed control and motor... I've been into rc for about 10 yrs

but these Tamiya electronics are top notch

Does the truck roll smooth with no motor installed? Could just be something in the drivetrain binding

yes the truck rolls smooth and everything..

got the xl5 mounted up.. haven't connected anything yet.

got to get some nimh batteries cuz lipos aren't water proof.

so I set everything back up to run regular 6cell stick packs.

ive got traxxas xl5's in all 5 of my crawlers and my cc01 is running an xl5 with an integy 55 turn - have run it that way for 5 years - no smoke or any trouble. and that's with a 9.6volt nihm pack. random 8.4 packs as well. (depends on what I had charged).
