Tamiya CC01 Subaru Brat

I've been lately neglecting my Tamiya CC01 in terms of giving it social attention. I told myself that i would host a build of my CC01 and post it on here about a year and a bit ago.

But turns out when i got my Landcruiser 40 Black Special CC01 i was way too eager to start building and got too lazy to take some build pictures (shame on my part yes, as the builds are half the fun!)



So, fast-forward to October 2014 and i now present you with my CC01 chassis and a new body for it.. Subaru Brat!








I picked up the Brat body from a re-release kit and wanted the hardshell but couldn't find one for a price that i saw reasonable so i opted for the clear shell.





I masked the windows on the Brat body because i plan to stuff a Tamiya driver figure in there from a Blitzer Beetle kit and i tinted the T-top sunroof.



Picked up the front ABS bumper too as this body, to me anyway, needs that white piece of plastic to complete the look Tamiya achieved so well back in '83 on the hardbody Subaru Brat.




I also added the SUBARU 4WD BRAT decal across the windscreen and i thought to myself.. Well finally, this sticker lies true to it's claim. (Since the Subaru Brat (Frog) is 2WD).

Painted the body Tamiya PS-14 Copper and i didn't back it since it's pretty dark on it's own. Though if i did i would done a gold backing probably.



The body isn't done yet though. I've still got a few more things to fix and add here and there so stay tuned for some LED lights soon!

Thanks man!

They are the HPI WR8 tires, red compound if I'm not mistaken (tad softer).

Definitely need a beadlock wheel as they're super wide!

Thanks! It's actually a light beige but the light made it look white.

The bumper I trimed and heated with a flame and flexed the mounting points to mount to the chassis.

Ah yes i can see what you mean. Nice idea on that bumper.

Okay so my driver figure came in, I'm still waiting on the lights.



This is from a Blitzer Beetle kit, fits perfectly into the Brat cab and it mounts with just a bit of double sided sticky tape which keeps it nice and clean looking.
Might use those license plate mounts too.

Had some spare time today and decided to paint the little blitzer beetle driver for the Brat. Also the light bar arrived!

Painted the driver's race suit Tamiya silver and his helmet Tamiya German grey.




Had to slightly modify the bracket but cutting half of it off. The roof of the Brat is rather short so this was the only way to get it to fit right.


Here are the lights installed on the Brat.


Also managed to fit a license plate on the rear, period correct tags too!



Now time to get this thing on a trail!

Nice job body looks great! You can get the hard body from somewhere I saw for less than $20 . its all the separate parts trees that add up. I'm working on a class 3 brat right now.

So i got in my RC4WD order today! Can't wait to try these out!

The shocks are very nice i must say, feel very precise and smooth



Going to paint the wheel hubs black though, they didn't have that colour in stock when i bought them.

Shocks are now installed! Ill try to find some time today to test them out.







These are 70mm by the way, and for the rear i believe i am going to purchase a pair of 80mm as I'm using drop links.
