Re: need steering ideas

Hi: I have used the aftermarket cranks and find the problem is they never really tighten up to stop the slop. I replaced the steering arms with ball links and 4-40 rod. The modification that did it was to put just a dab of JB Weld on the bottom of the crank that goes through the body to the steering unit underneath or on the lower steering unit itself and put a dab of JB on long screw on bolt that connects the two and tighten them up. Make certain to grease the cylinder well. When everything sets it is rock solid. I have done this to three units and the steering is excellent.

Re: need steering ideas

I mounted a servo on a bracket across the ft fenders. ran a link to old buggy bellcrank mounted vertically on the "brick". I flipped the knuckles left to right so the steering link was on the front of the axles. Then ran tie rods from bellcrank to knuckles. With a little fine tuning I had much more steering angle than normal. I researched and found other setups like this and tried them but the bump steer when the suspension would compress made the setup useless. That's why i integrated the buggy bellcrank into the design. I had nearly no bumpsteer after a bit of tuning.

Just a random thought but could you not invert the servo basically In the same position it is stock and stop using the GPM or stock parts. Kind of like a Traxxas Slash from memory? Just an Idea
