It's Tamiya Corsa Gray. I love the color. You can really vary the look of the vehicle by using it with different accent colors. I used it with red and white accents on my Associated buggy and SCT.

How happy are you with the g-made wheels on this? I've been reading up on these and it seems the steel ones are just that... steel, and quite heavy. Normally I like that, but with the steering linkage on these trucks I'm not so sure I'd want to do that. I also read that the steel ones tuck better, as they have 2mm positive offset, vs the plastic ones that have zero offset. The tires on my Bronco are glued onto some wheels I had that have pretty good offset for tucking the tires, but I'd like to have beadlocks for this if I can find some I like. Looking at your pics I notice there's not much threads for the wheel nut. Has that been an issue?

I was worried about the weight of the GMade steelies, but so far they've worked out well. Yes, they're heavy. I'm not running a ton of power through this thing, so I'm not too worried. They do narrow up a rig nicely. The steering is still rather vague. I'm sure the heavy wheels don't help. I'm going to stick with them for a while.

As for the minimal thread for the wheel nuts... I was worried about that as well. So far it hasn't proven to be an issue. They stay nice and snug.

I took the little FJ Cruiser out for a nice drive the other day. That's always a dangerous thing because I come home wanting to do another CC-01 build. Hmmm. I've always wanted to build a Pajero...

They're GMade hubs. They make a few different styles and are very reasonably priced.

Re: FJ Cruiser Build

The little FJ Cruiser just got a serious attitude upgrade.

I mounted up some of the new RC4WD Goodyear Duratracs on Incision Method 307s with #2 hubs to pull them in a little (still wider than the Dirt Grabber/GMade combo). I painted the "bolts" and added Locked Up scale hardware. The Gmade hubs *just* fit. I'm really digging the look.

how do the duratrac's perform? I know the real life ones I run on my truck in the winter/hunting season are fantastic and seem to last forever!

Re: FJ Cruiser Build

I've only had them out for one 1.5 mile run so far. They worked fine, but I wasn't instantly impressed like I was with the RC4WD Genius Sem Limites I put on the Scrap Dingo.

That said, they've got a couple of things working against them right now. First of all, it's fall in New England, so the trails are starting to get a bunch of loose leaves on them. Secondly, Even thought I've got the smallest possible 1.9 CI Deuces Wild foams shoved in there (for 3.45" - 3.85" tires), they're still a bit snug. The foams fill the tire completely without the little air gap that lets the Deuces Wild hook up. I'm going to see if they break in. Otherwise, I may need to try some different foams.

I love the look. I'm hoping with a little tuning I can get the tires dialed in.

All bolted up. I used some Wraith ends on the shocks to get the length right. I'm not sure about the skid plate yet. Smooth = good. Loss of ground clearance = bad. I'll give it a try and see how it goes.

Re: FJ Cruiser Build

Finishing a Bomber build with my son reinvigorated my interest in 2.2 rigs. The result? More trigger time with my Wraith and Yeti as well. Being a 1.9 guy at heart, something had to give eventually. Might as go with my smallest rig!

I took the FJ Cruiser out for a couple of miles. I'm definitely not sold on that skid plate. I feel like I got hung up more than usual. I'm going to give it a few more runs before I potentially remove it.

More concerning was that the steering on this tiny truck has developed a lot of play again. I feel like the top of the GPM steering post may be rounding out. Looks like I'll have to tear it down and find out.

Photos!
