Just ordered myself a Tamiya Unimog 425 kit with black and metallic blue paints and: Flysky GT3C RC4WD 65T Motor Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 ESC Power HD Servo RC4WD Stamped Steel Beadlocks (White) RC4WD 1.55 Mudthrashers I'm super excited because I love the Unimog/CC01's scale look and the idea of building such a beautiful kit has got me hyped! On a somewhat related note, I'm now poor ![]() |

I enjoyed building mine and am happy with the results. I'm thinking of adding a rear frame for a tarp and an interior.

Definitely dude, the tarp is a nice look ![]() Hopefully I can come up with something like that in the future. |

Oh, and quick question: does the kit come with all the necessary oils/greases or do I need to provide my own?

I just saw a video by "the jang" a veteran Tamiya builder where he uses anti- wear grease in the diffs. I think I will try it next time - it's his first step in this video : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=w96ej3_4cN0 Edit: of course you will probably lock yours Last edited by Habanero; 01-18-2016 at 10:09 AM. |

Yeah, no doubt I'll lock mine up. Like most people, I want to use it for trailing and light crawling. Although, don't some leave the front diff semi open, little easier on the gears in tight spots right? Last edited by bignate; 01-18-2016 at 03:16 PM. |

| ![]() I've heard that but have not tried it. I did not lock the diffs on my police cc-01 and it's really fast!

Post came today: http://imgur.com/xlWZJhM ![]() Still waiting on radio and wheels. As a bonus, the guy I bought the servo from had actually run out of the one I purchased (£13) and rectified his error by sending me the next model up (£23). 20KG torque supposedly :0 Edit: Oh and the 65T Motor Last edited by bignate; 01-19-2016 at 05:32 AM. |

Alright, spent the majority of the day obsessing over screws, gears and grease. Honestly; makes me wish the Ascender I got was also a kit, because I had a blast. Got the servo and the silvercan in, figured I would test the speedier option before my 65t arrives and I lock the front diff. Hopefully the rest of the stuff comes tomorrow so I can get everything fitted and start work on the body. Side note: Also ordered myself a Traxxas waterproof receiver box - might come this week, might not. Edit/Update: The rest of the goods arrived today (I officially hate beadlocks haha). Radio and ESC are both nice. Might be worth adding that I burnt the silvercan in by running it under water on a pair of AA batteries. The stock 540 is pretty silly on 3s, managed to traction roll within 30 seconds of driving. It has some surprising speed, probably hit about 22mph on my flat tarmac. Going to do the painting and body work tomorrow hopefully. Last edited by bignate; 01-21-2016 at 12:59 PM. Reason: Update |

Did the body today. So it's all finished (or as finished as a scaler can be ;) ). http://i.imgur.com/T4NkxDQ.jpg I'll post more pictures of it on the pictures thread. |

That looks really good. Good choice on the blue and the white wheels. I also hate putting those wheels together.
