| double joint front driveshaft?
I was wondering if anyone had successfully retrofit a double universal joint front axles into the chassis? My rig has been lifted to the max and there is a bind on the shaft which causes the suspension to dip when driving so the shaft could rotate thru the joint. I seen some road cars with the double joints and at full turn wheels do not hop. Maybe a good mod for the car when front is maxed out on lift. |

Ok so i did some research and found M05 axle shaft is same length as the CC01. I ordered a set of M05 double cardan shaft set along with some 42mm and 40mm joint shafts for the cardan axles. The cc01 hubs require big bearing for the back end. So I sent in a drawing to 3d print up some spacers to fit the smaller bearing that comes with the cardan axles. I suspect I may need to make new hub carriers also. Pics and results to follow. Hopefully these will not bind up. |

I had at one point mocked up a set of 3Racing Sakura D3 wide angle shafts into my CC and gave up before even checking the shaft length due to the bearing size difference. I would love to see the spacer you are 3d printing to see if this is possible with the shafts I have. Keep us updated!

Bah the reducer that I had made had wrong dimensions. I measure the wrong bearing. And with the bearing that fits the axle , its too small for the hub. So there goes the retrofit. Looks like I only have 42mm joing shafts which were too long. I think 38-40 would be perfect for the car. |

Tamiya TA knuckles drop right in, they use 2 5x11 bearings per side if that helps. Gives you 10mm more width per side though. TowerHobbies.com | Tamiya Front Upright Car TA01 (2) |

i decided to revisit this. I ordered some M05 and FF03 uprights and hubs. Trying to see how they fit and then 3d print a new lower arm to see how it all goes together.
