Tamiya CC02?

Hey guys I'm interested in the MST CMX, a lot of guys are referring this as the CC02 because the kits come with the option of having a Tamiya body. Any testing, or experience with these here? The chassis looks great and i have a spare Tamiya LandCruiser body lying around that id like to mount on it. Thanks!

With the 2 rail chassis, it looks more like a CR-02....

Looks interesting though, I'll have to keep an eye on it.

Yeah I saw someone on another site referring it or comparing it to a CC-01 or something. To me, it looks like more of a cross between a Ascender and SCX10, just with a Tamiya style body.

Re: Tamiya CC02?

The CC-01 is a plastic Tub chassis, that CMX has a 2 rail chassis like the CR-01...

The CR-01 also uses those same bodies....

That CMX looks very interesting, but a little high on the starting cost. However, it is in line with the CR-01 cost, maybe a touch cheaper....

It's kind of interesting. Looks like it could be made into something decent, but it has an oddball plastic diff that's going to be a weak point for sure.

It sure looks good with the Bronco body.

I'd probably be more apt to try the new HPI Venture whenever it ever comes out. hpi venture fj « Big Squid RC – News, Reviews, Videos, and More!

Re: Tamiya CC02?

Some good points here. Reason being why i think its closer to the CC01 is because of the size. The CR01 uses too large of a tire in my opinion and it lost its scale touch in favour of performance. The CMX is like an evolution of the CC01 if you ask me. I am probably going to bite the bullet come the spring, i will post up on here so you all can follow :)

Re: Tamiya CC02?

The ONLY thing it has that is even close to a CC-01 is the body shell, nothing else is similar what so ever.

Somebody commented on Big Squid about it and I think it was most accurate, they said "looks like a SCX10 setup on a Gmade frame"

Re: Tamiya CC02?

That's a pretty accurate statement. The CMX frame is much shorter - It's like a 3/4 SCX10.

Nothing whatsoever like the CC01 other than the track/wheelbase. The IFS is what makes the CC01 different/unique imo. A "CC02" is sorely needed however.

I saw the thread title and came in here hoping to find exactly that.

Re: Tamiya CC02?

I agree, a updated chassis "CC-02" sure would be nice. I am fairly new to CC-01 chassis but I can certainly see where a updated version is needed.

Re: Tamiya CC02?

That's kind of what I am getting at. The CMX is like the sorely needed and finally updated CC02. It's an evolution of modern scale trail truck functionality and scale design that the CC01 introduced. It maintains its ties to the CC01 by having the exact same wheelbase options and track width as the CC01. If Tamiya ever made a CC02 it would be the MST CMX.

Yes I am referring to the scale size only, the body is a reflection of this. Which is great for me because I have a spare CC01 body :) haha
