CC01's Bashability / Toughness?
 

So what are these like ( Bashability / Toughness / Repairability ) compared to an axial scx10 or vaterra ascender?

CC-01 cant really be compared with a SCX10 or Ascender, they are in a league all of their own.

I guess what I'm really wondering is whether they can withstand tumbling down a hill like the others can, or if they're mostly for show and trailing?

I roll my pajero a lot. It cant climb anything compared to the scx. Mine is over 10 years old and still kickin....And it's beat to piss with mostly all stock plastic parts. Even the drive gears.

Good info Nappy, i havent had CC-01's very long, but many other tamiya cars and trucks over the years. Most will last for years with regular use and abuse. Its just that when people ask about bashing sometimes they are talking about high power brushless systems and big lipos, which obviously isnt gonna be the best choice for these Tamiya vehicles. So far I have 2 CC-01 vehicles and even though they have their limitations, i like them alot.

I do run lipos(only 2s in Pajero), but just have a Novak Rooster and Axial 27T stock motor. It's so under powered with all the drive resistance through the front gears and weight of the rig, with that weak ass motor, that most of the bashing is rolling back down a hill I tried to climb but failed. :)

I think my next project may be to rebuild that poor thing and get it back to 100%.

If you're gonna crawl then maybe use a hobbyking 45a brushed car esc with drag brake for $10, or Hobbywing wp1060 for $25 if you want pre-waterproofed (I did my own to the former).

I'm finding that a good 55t motor works well with these, it's still a little too fast for some stuff though, so I plan to try a 80t in one of my rigs.

I just picked up a 3rd CC-01 (another unimog) from a buddy yesterday, that one has a Novak Eiger esc with 55t Novak 55t motor, it does pretty well, actually much better than my other unimog that has the Tamiya ESC with RC4wd 55t. The one with the Tamiya esc actually stalls out trying to climb anything, it kinda sucks, but most of that is the ESC.

She's a lil party **** I found at te dollar store... ;) she has a few friends in there too. They're all ****ty... The interior out of a scx jku body. Fit great!

As far as toughness goes ive dropped mine outa the same tree 3x now. Once from about 8ft up when stock tires lost grip, and 2x from over 12ft off the ground. Last time i did it it landed square on its ass almost folded my landfreeder body in half where the cab and bed meet. Not a single thing has broke or even showing any stress marks.

my cc01 is also well over 10 years old. still great xcept some screw holes are stripped and i had to drill thru and add lock nut on the other side or install longer screws.
