| Square RC sustain steering kit
Bought mine a 2 years ago and kept on fighting with the sloppy GPM kits i got. Bought afew GPM kits and they were all sloppy. I hesitated to go with the Square RC sustain one because when i checked it on the bench it felt sloppy too... But i assembled it and installed it and it doesn't feel sloppy at all now. The quality of the kit is up there with the best brands... Machining and material look much better than GPM. I have not tried it yet in real condition though. But here are some pics of the kit. I will report back when i have tested it for a while to see if any slop builds up after some proper trail rides. |

Using the GPM metal front chassis plate, i did not have to remove any material from it. The 3rd pic makes it look like there is a defect in the kit but it's just some dust bits that were there when i assembled it. It is expensive and i got it before the hot racing kit was on the market. Just spent an hour or two in the backyard torturing my CC-01 in the rocks. Kit seems to hold up well so far. Will report in some time after a complete trail day.

Spent a whole day in the trails and the kit held up well. Now i'm beating myself up as to why i kept it in the parts bin for 2 years before getting around to install it instead of the GPM kit... I really got stuck a few times and the hitec 5646wp servo i use couldn't even move the wheels. Kit hasn't developed any slop. |

Any updates on how this steering replacement held up ? The kit is almost 5x more expensive than the rubbish GPM kit. I'll buy one if I know it's going to hold up.

I've driven my cc-01 many times on day-long trail rides and the kit is holding up well. One thing is that i have to check the top screw every few rides to make sure it's still tight. It loosened up a time or two. I'm not sure if it's better than the hot racing one which i have not tried yet. It is much better than the GPM one though. I'm not really hard on my rc trucks but they still get a workout. Bent one of those GPM steering rods recently but the Square kit seems to be fine. |
