Can you PM me on buying 2 sets? Price, method of payment, etc. Thanks for the research and work on this item. Now you should move on to top mounted servo bracket. These are needed too by CC01 builders! |

Just an updated on Ver. 2 of the knuckles: The print ended up sub-par, because I tried a different color. I don't know how the dyeing process affects the quality of the plastic, but this one gave it some porosity. For now, I think that virgin white, and black are guaranteed, and will take tapping easily and hold bearing tolerances. Machining Update: I tried to get a quote on machining out of aluminum, and it is cost prohibitive for the geometry of the item. Lowest quote I got was $45 each for a quantity of 50. As an amateur machinist, I don't think I'd want to fixture this thing myself even if I had a CNC setup. Bonus Update: I learned that a marked percentage of aluminum overseas "upgrade" parts are initially cast (using the original plastic material for the mold) and just cleaned up with passes from a lathe or mill to give a "machined" finish. I think that sheds some light on how no-name parts for a relatively new kit come out fairly quickly at relatively low cost. Will dig into this some more. |

Hey all, thanks for everyone's patience. Unfortunately, I currently have no way of hosting additional photos since Photobucket decided it was time to cash in. I'm currently on vacation, with no access to my computer, but I will do my best to get some images up. A few details: -max tire width I would recommend is 1.45"; you can possibly get a 1.5" tire on there, but you will have to shim the front axles to get every little bit of slop by placing the shims between the outer bearing and the cross-pin that indexes onto the wheel hex (a picture would be nice ) -steering tie rods need to be 4mm longer than stock, or each rod end needs to be 2mm longer minimum That's all I've got until I can sort out another 3rd party web photo host. might catch some heat for this, but I want to build a CC01 drift car, and these knuckles are a MUST! on that note, its going to be RWD with gyro. combined with eliminating front axles plus these knuckles I should be able to get some insane countersteer angle! I am down for 2 in black. do I order from you (when you return from vacation) or do I just go and get them on shapeways? never ordered from them before. |
