CC-01 HILUX build

Hey guys, I’ve been reading some useful stuff on this forum for the last month or so am have read some really useful stuff. I’ve been wanting to get a CC01 for a while, and I finally did. I wanted to get a kit and they had the Hilux extra cab.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...eb422138b2.jpg
Firstly I wanted to build it stock and see how it went. Here it is in all its glory.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...eee01ff4af.jpg
For electronics I used the standard motor, a water proof metal gear savox servo, and a water proof HPI esc (wanted to use a lipo) and a flysky radio
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d9f72f230d.jpg
Anyway this is the starting point, I’m gonna keep working toward making this as capable as possible. But for now this is the start.

Re: CC-01 HILUX build

I've bought 2. One I've upgraded and one spare stock. Haven't used them enough but built many shells as that's what I enjoy most. Looking at a clone of the bruiser, but haven't really got the most out of the cc01s to justify spending more money. From what I have read they seem a capable vehicle with upgrades . Hopefully you will be happy with yours. Have looked at a metal frame chassis but can't see that anyone has made one. Might have a go myself. Enjoy.

Re: CC-01 HILUX build

After doing some wheeling around just in the backyard I decide that the first thing I wanted to do was fix the slop in the steering and try to get a little more steering angle.
So first thing I did was look around the forum and decided to get the yeah racing as I heard some mixed reviews about the GPM one, I also got a set of universal shafts.

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bfe60b7253.jpg
I also got rid of those little plastic thingys
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...0677563bf7.jpg
Bye bye little useless piece of plastic, hello steering angle https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...62bb47264e.jpg
Also curious if there is any way to lock the front diff? I locked the rear from stock but not sure about the front. Any help is appreciated

Easily. Take one of the three spider gears in the front diff and jam it between the other two. No more diff! "thumbsup"

Just be sure they are all sitting flush and the diff case halves are tight or it will bind up the transmission. Takes a little finagling to get it in there just right.

Okay so I got a bit of time to work on my truck. Firstly I locked the front diff using the extra gear method. (Thanks for showing me OSRC)

Mmmmmmmm locked and loaded. Also figured I should do the sealed ball bearing kit while I was in there.

Hmm nice and smooth.
That’s all for now, I started to cut away at the battery tray to fit a hard case lipo. Also I have the integy fourlink kit but I am having trouble fitting it, has anyone had any experience with it?

Following because I just got my CC01 kit today from eBay. Picked up the MU kit as I wanted to try a hardbody build.

Next in the agenda was the front bumper. It was big it was goofy and just a hinderance to performance. I have seen the front skid that Junfac makes but it is pretty expensive do I decided to make my own.
Started with a sheet of 3mm aluminium and cut the shape and drilled the holes. A cut here, a bend there and a lick of paint, and this is what we got. :)

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f3323a0982.jpg
Also cutout the body, it was the most terrifying experience in my life!
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...fb6c208956.jpg
The plan was originally to make it smaller like the Junfac one but the way I did it reinforces the front of the body and makes it not rattle around a lot, so it stays (for now). I fiddled with the integy four link for about an hour this afternoon and I still can’t figure it out. I’m gonna have to take it to the local hobby shop. I’m not one to quit, but it’s just not working ):

I didn't know Integy made a 4 link kit... do you have a link? If I saw it, I'm sure we can figure it out.

Yeah every way I try it wither the links hit, the shocks can’t fully release of the links don’t line up.

If not I might have to head to a local hobby shop I bought them from.

You can also try the GPM links and aluminum rear damper mount with multiple holes for more adjusting options. I'm currently using them.

Good to see you got the YR steering set because the GPM steering set is a waste of money. I ordered the Xtra Speed steering set and will try if it'll last. If not, then Yeah Racing or Hot Racing are the last two options.

Yeah I’d like to get this one to work rather than spending more money. But we’ll have to see

Hard to say without them in hand, but looks like it would mount the same as the Junfac setup. Maybe this pic will help?

https://www.rccaraction.com/wp-conte...MG_3057_cc.jpg

Post up a pic with them mounted if you can. Not a huge fan of Integy per-se, but I don't see why it wouldn't work.

One thought: The lower mounts of the shocks in the kit are stepped screws. While that works fine with the stock parts, it won't work with a true 4 link. You need a set of pivot balls to allow the suspension to move freely. Maybe that's what causing problems?

Back when I had my Wrangler, I did a really simple and cheap rear suspension. I sleaved some 4-40 threaded rod and used some Traxxas rod ends. It worked really well. These pics are old, but you can see the basic layout.
