I didnt like this:

So I did this:

I did not care for the way the rear flare was so straight and pointy:

Nor did I care for the stamped "X" on the rear bumper wing:

Gonna fix that like this:

I wanted a stock looking weekend warrior type thing so I decided to keep the front bumper semi-stock-ish-looking-sort-of:

Stock:

Gear Type Razor Wings for 1.1 FJC stock bumper:

Rough start of a Stock-like bumper with a slightly different Razor Wing:

I also trimmed this:

To look like this:

More shaping, more sanding...

Scale driver figure:

Got some paint on the FJC. You dont see a lot of these FJ Cruisers: Army Green Trail Teams Edition.

I did a few things different. Satin Italian Olive is the color. Since I trimmed up the front fender flares, I decided to color match them to the body. Rears stayed flat black. Rear bumper wings (corners) got the Italian Olive treatment. I was going to hit the green with a gloss clear coat but I like how it is.

Chose my wheels and tires accordingly.

Full droop suspension/slammed FJ

Flat black bumper, semi-gloss black for lower valance and headlight bezel for a slight contrast.

Beefy metal hexes

Long XC driveshaft. Four link. The undercarriage received the Italian Olive treatment as well so that the black "chassis rails" stand out a bit.

Steel front skid plate and front suspension aluminum goodies. GPM stuff mostly. Upper/lower arms, CVDs, Cs

OK so that is it for now. Maybe more later.

Been working on this one all day. I forgot how much fun this was/is.

Shocks arrived. RC Channel coilovers up front and slightly longer Losi MRC threaded aluminum in the rear.

These are sexy

Mounted up!

It's alive... sort of. Waiting on a motor. I think it has a pretty good stance.

I had one of these etched emblems.

So i tore the sticker off and replaced it.

It's getting there.

I took a few shots outdoors in natural light

Flex shot

I can get one of these bodies locally. Had no idea it could look so good. May have to bust out the cc01 and do some work. Very nice rig!

Nice! I have a 1.1 TT as well. 08 in white, first year the TT was offered. Good luck with your mini version of your army green tt!

That's a lot of taping off for painting - results look totally worth it! Especially the chassis.

Love the GIJoe sticker!

Great build. Love the Nikko FJ body. Part of the reason why I bought a CC-01 - just so I could mount the body on something. I sold the CC-01, now the body is sitting on a shelf by its lonesome. I may have to purchase another CC-01 again....I am having regrets... :(

Thanks, It was a lot of work but it's different and I think it came out pretty good. If I ever build another CC01 I probably won't take the time to do that again! LOL
The GI JOE sticker is actually a vintage decal from 1987. Found it on ebay. I thought it was kickawesome so I grabbed it up.

If you have the Nikko body, definitely pick up a CC-01 and build it! The body goes for more than the CC01 kit lol.

TINY UPDATE:

Motor arrived today. Atomik 60 turn. I wanted this rig for some fun blasting around so we will see how the 60t does. I have never done a GRU on a CC01 but it looks fairly simple. I may do one on my next CC-01 build...

All tucked away and ready for an initial run.

Thanks for looking/commenting

OK so I took it for a spin in the driveway. The locked front definitely made for difficult turning. The 60t has some wheel speed still so it was fun to drive but with the motor and heavy 6 cell battery the nose was diving.

Into the pare parts bin we go:

These- Vintage Tamiya springs.

They are a little longer and a little stiffer than the black springs that come with the RC Channel shocks.

Swapped them out...

The new springs did the trick. They kept the front end up and and there is a lot less flex in the IFS. It flexes just like the big one in the background LOL

Installing a GRU is rather simple on the CC-01 due to the fact that the chassis is plastic. Mounting one on is just a matter of hacking away bit by bit of the chassis and/or motor cover until the GRU fits. In most cases you will have to lose the ESC+Receiver plate. Depending on the brand of the unit, you may have to alter the way your battery sits by rotating it 90 degrees to accommodate the increase in depth of the motor+GRU. I've seen a couple of people install a GRU and mated it with an Outrunner motor (due to the short length), which makes for minimal hacking.

I've read that thread of his over 50 times. He built a great CC-01

Thanks for the input. Gonna definitely attempt a GRU on my next cc01 build.

I've got that thread bookmarked as well. I've tried a 2:1, 4:1, and 7.4 to 1 in my CC's. Preferred the 2:1 for trail driving, it was pretty much perfect. Good torque and enough wheel speed to bump up when needed. The other two are more suited to scale driving and knarly terrain as there is not a lot of speed at all.
