Default CC01 Beetle?

I have an extra CC01 (Pajero Rally) lying around bone stock except for bearings. I have a Land-cruiser which I’ve been working on for quite a while.
I want to turn the Pajero into a beetle with a few minor hop ups (steering). Any suggestions on what body would fit nicely (that I can still find)?

The Sand Scorcher's the way I'd go. Only a 5mm difference in the wheelbases and with the cut out fenders on the Sand Scorcher, you should be able to cheat 2.5mm on each. Please be sure to post photos. A SS 4wd convert is a project I'd like do do in the future.

In stock at Tower. Also, from my experience, anything in stock at Tower or HH usually means your LHS can get them if they're set ups with HH.

Thanks! Just bought it! Can’t wait! First I have to get my Landcruiser build finished. I have a separate build thread on here for that. All I have left is build new shocks and paint body. Going to get the Landcruiser body professionally painted.
As far as the Beetle, the first thing I’ll look into is how to mount the body. Probably go with a Hobbywing 1060 and Tamiya torque tuned motor. Might finally buy the Gmade 4 link kit for it too. That big skid plate wouldn’t hurt anything as I won’t be crawling with it. Heck, it will lower center of gravity since the body is plastic. I have some medium barrel springs I can use for the shocks too. Hot racing steering set a must. I love it on my Landcruiser. Guess I’ll get back on a cc01 kick for a while. So many projects lol. I’m telling myself I won’t start anymore kits until all of my current projects are finished.

Same here. I probably won’t succeed lol. I want an XV02 bad but now that I thought up making this beetle that will have to wait. Shouldn’t spend right now but I want that Junfac/Gmade link kit before they disappear.

Here’s where it begins. Bone stock except for bearings and medium barrel springs. Junk Traxxas servo going bye bye. I will replace silver can with torque tuned motor. Can’t wait to figure out how to mount body.

You're going to have to do some cutting of the inner fenders on that CC01 chassis. I saw a thread here on how one guy did it (not me).

Post pics!

I have a brand new chassis with the rear wheel wells already cut off. Let me know if you want to save your tub.

Body arrived today. This is going to be fun. You guys are right, I’m going to have to do some cutting on the rear fenders. Not a problem. Here it is just sitting on the chassis. Going to get started on it this weekend. I have the Gmade 4 link kit on the way. Need to start thinking of wheels and tires. Any suggestions?

That's going to look great, WB looks almost spot on!

MST KM tires might work well, 90mm - they look almost like the stockers, but far more grip.

Junfac 4 link came in. Here’s a before shot.

……and here it is after installation. The suspension is so smooth now. I have a GPM 4 link on my Landcruiser which I like, but this one is much nicer.

Got the chassis cut and I have the body right where I want it. Had to do a lot of dremeling to the front to get it to fit but I think it turned out nice. Now I need some bigger tires. Thinking 1.9’s will fit with the body higher up.
Need a new bumper

Found some knock off 1.55 beadlocks and tires for this build. We’ll see how they are once they get here from China. This isn’t going to be run hard so hopefully they’ll be okay.

1.55 usually don't clear the steering knuckle bolts... they look like they have enough just offset that they'll clear. There's a pretty simple mod using TA02 parts if needed.

if you swap out that rear axle for a scx10.2 axle you would have lower gears to work with that would allow you to run a larger tire in the rear like a real baja bug
just a thought

Uh oh, hope they fit. RC4WD 1.55’s fit on my Landcruiser, hope these do to. What is the mod in case they don’t? Thanks man!

Nice CC oh Scorcher, body looks good on there.
I was pretty impressed with the one and only CC01 I had years ago. 14 to be exact.
I shimmed the rear for mesh, and either longer screws or nuts & bolts through the front gear cover as it has a tendency to pop off under duress.
I forget what the issue was some had with steering, but I never had issues other than lack of throw.
I ran a Novak Goat BL system and a LiPo, lil fawker was crazy to drive

Plus, I'm a shit driver anyway lol
Damn, those were the days...
