How did you get into RC Rock crawling?
I owned a couple of RCs in the past, a T-maxx and Ofna Buggy but sold them. Then in early 2004 a friend of mine purchased an E-maxx, put spools in it and lengthened the chassis to make a crawler out of it. I was hooked. I bought an E-maxx and put a stronger servo on it, locked the diffs, ect. I then started looking on-line to see if anyone else was making crawlers out of RC trucks. I found Roktoy (Jay Kopycinki), and Mudcow's website. In April of 04 is stumbled on to RCCrawler. I purchased a Juggernaut/TXT off of e-bay because it had solid axles. I quickly met several guys from North Alabama (where I'm originally from), and SERCRC was formed soon after. We started having comps and the rest is history.

Favorite spot to crawl:
I'm pretty lucky to have a great place to crawl at my house. But one of my favorite places is Little Rock City in North Alabama. The rock there has so much traction that you can take some really hard lines that seem impossible. Another favorite place to crawl is Moab, UT. Anyone that knows anything about four-wheel drives knows of Moab. The only bad thing about Moab is that it's so far away from Alabama.

RC Crawler specifications:
    • Chassis: Super Class: Area 51 Clod chassis made by a fellow SERCRC club member Anthony Hinton (Heavy)
    • Electronics: DX-6 radio, 3-cell lipo battery, Castle Creations voltage regulator, and 2 Hitec 5995 steering servos
    • Tires and Rims: Narrowed Axial 40 series Beadlock Wheels, Moab XL with Red Kreepy Foams
    • Engine/motor: Quark 33 Procar ESC and Crawlmaster brushless motor for each axle
    • Body:HPI Hemi Cuda
    • Chassis: 2.2 Class: GC-1 Competition Chassis (TLT), designed by a SERCRC club member Austin Dunn (Gatekeeper)
    • Electronics: DX-3 radio, 3-cell lipo battery, Castle Creations voltage regulator, Hitec 5955 steering servo, and TowerPro MG945 dig servo for the R2 with disconnect trans.
    • Tires and Rims: RC4WD Beadlock wheels, Losi Rock Claws with red Kreepy foams.
    • Engine/motor: Mamba Maxx ESC with a 55t Integy lathe motor.
    • Body: HPI Baja Bug
What products from TCS Crawlers do you use the most and would recommend/why?

Tires and Wheels, I feel like the tires and wheels I use are the best choice for each class of trucks and the Kreepy foams really help them to hook up.

Mamab Maxx electronic speed control is a great ESC, that has a lot of adjustments and allows you to run brushed or brushless motors.

RC4WD R2 trans with disconnect, this is a great product that gives you the ability to have 4WD and dig with or without locking the rear axle.

RC4WD straight axle adapter and axles for the rear axle on my TLT, does away with the linkage to lock out the steering on the rear axle and don't have to worry about breaking a rear axle shaft.

HPI Baja Bug body helps the rig roll back onto its wheels when you roll over.

Integy Axle tubes, Thunder Tech BTA steering and CVDs add strength and extra steering for the clod axles.

Hitec digital servos have the strength to turn the wheels so you will always be able to go wherever you want the truck to go.

RXCRAWLER Line strategies and tips:
Know your rig! Know how it reacts in certain situations: when it is about to flip or roll, will turning the rear wheels make the truck settle, etc. Watch what people are doing that run ahead of you. If you see 3 people with a similar truck have problems at a certain spot; don't try the same thing they were doing, it probably won't work for you either. Know where your truck is on the course, don't exit one gate pointed in the wrong direction for the next gate. Know where you want to go before you get there. Try to plan ahead.
