Default Chaotic Crawlers: "Tripple B" Berg Ball Buster

I picked this up friday night came straight home and ripped everything apart and bolted up one of my Chaotic Crawler Chassis to it. Everything swapped over 100% except for the revo 101mm push rods for the lower links.

I originally put in my Tekin RS and a 18.5 brushless goat motor in with a 15T pinion but for some reason the losi and Tekin and not gettting along one bit. (it keeps going into a thermal shutdown and the motor is burning hot but the tekin temp seems to be fine) I think I will go back to my trustworthy setup of a fxr and a HH 7T puller.

So after the build I took it out and within 5 minutes in my basement I was able to break 2 cross pins on the cvd and I bent one driveline pin becuase it started to slide out.

For some reason my tranny feels really sloppy! I pulled it apart and rebuilt everything thinking a bearing or bushing was missing but everything was there. I get a really loud click (as if it has to shift to engaging gears) everytime I give it a little throttle.

As I said in the first post. I Originally put in a Tekin RS and a goat 18.5 motor. In my axial there is nothing smoother that I have ran than this setup I even like it better than my fxr and HH 7T puller setup (only becasue of the longer run times.) In the losi it feels like it is starving for power to push the worm gears. and it has been cogging for power like crazy. I am running a 15T pinion the gear mesh is set right and I am running big 2200 2cell packs Any advise would be great on what is going on.

I am OCD like that, I have to be different than everyone else. It might come back and bite me in the butt but I am pleased with the setup as of now.

cool, So now take the axles back out and take them apart and grease the living shiot out of them. then take your drill and run them in for awhile. check and recheck and recheck all your cvds for binding. with this done you should see a reduction in drag.

Thanks I am itching to take it up against a modified stock setup.

With the stock chassis, if you set up the shocks like Jake's in his setup sheets, it makes a huge difference. I put the limiters in the shocks and changed oil weight and this thing flat out performs now. Yours should do the same with the right shock setup.

Yea I need to tweak with the shocks. I haven't touched them from stock. I sucked them down with zip ties so I could get out on the rocks and find the sweat spot. Ill probably be hitting you for a set of Ti Links soon and I hope you come out with some ti shafts that would be killer.

Doesn't seem to be busting anything but cvd's. I will keep my berg.

LOL I just sold my berg to buy the losi and other than breaking a few things I have not looked back or regreted it one bit. Bergs had their initial issues like the stub shafts breaking (even though i never had problems.)Losi will work out the few kinks and we we all be happy with our purchases.

I'm going to take a wild guess. Maybe he makes the chassis and wanted to see what it was like with the Losi running gear.

man, that looks awesome

Maybe try a BEC for the servos to take some of the load off of the ESC? Also, the worms seem to break in a little, so grease them up well and run them, they should get better.

Chaotic, are you still disapointed with the 18.5? I've heard good and bad things about the system. I'm sitting here waiting till I find the right system to buy. I just bought a complete brushed setup and it just doesn't like my losi, so I'm waiting to buy a brushless setup till I get some feedback.

Yea so far I am not a fan. I don't have enough torque to get up some of the ledges that we have had to climb in past comps. I am down to a 15T pinion and it is smoother now but my motor gets so hot I cannot even touch it. My esc has gone into thermal shutdown only after a short run (15 min)

Wow. I like the chassis you have for that. I am planing on running a 35t with my FXR. But I don't have a Losi yet. The one I ordered is at the LHS and he is on vacation.

What brushed set up (that you didn't like) did you use?

I am loving the losi it is coming around by itself. I think the axles just needed to break in a bit. I am not getting as much cogging since I slapped in some grease in both axles.

I tuned it a bit and the thing is screaming now. I just hope I dont break cvd at the next comp.
