Default Motor tip might work!!!!!

I was on the phone today with a fellow crawler/vendor and he gave me a tip that might work. On the motor side rear upper link.....take that link from the inside and put it on the outside. This will give you room for a HH Puller! This could be the answer to brushed motors in this rig. All of my pullers are in something right now but I may pull my 5t just to see if it will fit......

Default Hmmmm

I was thinking of doing that, How would it affect the suspension geometry and or handling?

As long as you don't change the vertical separation,it's just going to add more triangulation. All that's gonna do is add lateral strength to your links and keeping the axle from walking sideways.

Moving only one side will change the wheelbase on one side a touch or make the rear axle sit a touch crooked if the lowers are straight. I'd move both sides to the outside myself honestly.

Just installed a HH 10t puller with a 16T pinion, Decent wheels speed extra smooth.

I had to move the electronics tray back so only one screw holds it per side. Not a big deal though.

put a 480 puller in mine fits without mods. It is a 12t puller with a 12 tooth pinion. gets warm on 2s but they do in an axial as well. decent wheel speed and great power. going to try a 14 tooth pinion tomorrow.

Glad the tip is paying off So one problem down, a few to go If the 480 fits with no mods then the 500 will to! I have a extra 500, I think that is what I will go with instead of a 7 or 10t.....all of which will be on a 2c and that will keep the CG and weight down

Some of you might think the post being on the outside might catch on stuff....just mod the bottom of the body to fold under or in toward the chassis and it will keep it covered up.

Some of us were talking the other night about adding a grease point to the axles. Any input or suggestions on where you think this mod could be done cleanly and out of the way?

I installed a HH 7T cobalt puller in mine following the "links on the outside mod" and it works great. Good wheel speed and torque. No noticeable difference in performance. I'm afraid to bind it up to much until replacement CVD's come in. Motor and ESC temps in the low 100's.

Sidewinder ESC
CC 10 amp BEC
HH 7T cobalt puller motor
3C 1500 lipo
17T pinion- dropping to 15 or 16

Great info thank you. This is the setup I was hoping to run. I haven't had a chance to look at mine close enough to figure out how to cram my HH 7T in there. Glad to see its working and the temps are saying in check.
This weekend I'll have to get busy on mine now.

do the upper links bind with the shocks when you move the links to the outside? I am going to do this tonight. It just looks like they might bind. What is the concensus so far? Is the puller the way to go till we have a good sensored system?

You guys mean the 454 Puller?

That thing runs hot in everything I've put it in, including a 4 pound Axial shafty.

I want to try a 5t HH puller, but I'm scared it will have too much CVD snapping power.

Any thoughts?
