Default Should I buy the Losi comp crawler

I want to buy the Losi comp crawler but it sounds like the truck has to many problems. I could use all the input I can get.

not until they get this mess straightened out. it would suck to buy something so you can have it sit on a shelf broken or drive it like its made out of feathers.

Thanks for the input. Has anyone heard from Losi as to what is the time frame to fix all these problems?

Yes you should buy one. problems or not losi will take care of us on things. I bought one and besides breaking the cvd pins I haven't had any issues with it. I even sold my berg to buy the losi and don't regret it one bit. Now if I take it to a comp and start breaking things I might be more pissed just like everyone else. I have about 5 packs through mine and as long as you are mindful and do go around every where at full throttle you will be fine until losi get their stuff together.

Dollar for dollar you really can't beat the losi, oh and I just took mine against a berg who placed 3rd at our last comp and I schooled him. Dont take my word on it read the post.

Chaotic Crawlers: "Tripple B" Berg Ball Buster

"well we ran this rig next to my berg and I just got my ass handed to me by this losi!

the axle clearance is incredible and made all the difference in the world on the stuff we were crawling!

I am very impressed with this rig and love how light weight it is!

of course when I buy mine,it will be rockin the nino chassis as well!(only the best for my rigs) "

I would get one again.
I am really diggin mine. Yea if you dont set your end points right on the steering your gonna break cvd's. But I have 10 packs run thru mine without any probs. It does some amazing things when you spend the time and set it up right.
Just spend some time with her and set her up, she won't let ya down.

Doing the fix right now so don't worry. There is a lot of smack talk so take that with a grain of salt and do what you think is right. You'll be happy with the Losi.

Amen to that! Remember this is a hobby and no rig axial, berg, or losi was ever designed to push around 40 pound boulders. If you know how to drive and dont max out your steering end points I think you will be fine.

I say just wait, that way the rest of us can go out and win with our new Losi's...LOL

Nah, get it if you want it, don't wait for nor expect an out of the box comp crawler, there is no such thing I don't think there ever will be.

The only real problems:

The CVD's can not handle full lock steering.

Brushed motors don't seem to work as well as we were all lead to believe so plan on buying a brushless system

Both Axial and Berg require a whole bunch of crap right out of the box, the Losi is no different.

Oh and with the sells the Losi is seeing the aftermarket will be in a hurry to get to the market with parts, expect to see better parts real soon.

You know if this hobby had started with this much BS it wouldn't exsist, who remembers all the fun converting TLT's to TLT-10's and than to full blown crawlers, talk about a lack of support...LOL

I would buy one if I could afford one, my 1:1's are taking all my $$$. One has been testing here in Colorado and it has held up well to the courses I design, courses that break Berg axles all the time.

I got rid of my Berg for mine (was gonna build a bully anyway) and I do not regret it at all. Now I have not gotten mine fully together yet, but I have 100% faith in the Losi product support. I run a XXX-CR and XXX-T MF2, quality is right on.

There is a huge amount of trash talk going on right now, whether it is justified is not for me to really decide. I have dealt with Rich first hand and had the pleasure of spending an afternoon with him at the RCP event last year. He is an upstanding member of our community and will do right by us.

My personal opinion is that I would buy one again.

I have flip-flopped I'll bet 10 times in the past 2 days about buying one. As of this writing, I still plan to - but I also expect to have to buy a brushless system for it (which has never been in my planning budget) I'm sure the CVD issue will be easily fixed, whether by Losi or by aftermarket.

The motor issue is the only thing I'm left trying to figure out. I just hope a brushless system *IS* the fix for that.

This board, and all of the help/opinions that are here, is absolutely fantastic!

I say in a rather loud voice YES!! I recieved my Losi on Saturday broke a CVD right away, took the axles apart and did the greasing and breaking in on a drill. On monday I sent Rich a PM with a picture of the CVD and Wed when I got home from work there was a package in my mail box with two new CV shafts. THANK YOU Rich!

I went to the local crawl spot last night right before dark and ran a batter for 25 minutes. It was some of the best crawling I have done in a while. I am so glad I bought one of the Comp Crawlers.

Again, in a loud voice, YES!!

So are the replacement shafts holding up better than the originals?

I was just going to say I bought 1 of 10 that the local hobby shop got in and haven't had any issues yet. I started off with a HPI Wheely King made TONS of mods to make it somewhat of a crawler. From there went to a Scorpion also made a TON of mods to make it comp worthy, broke it every single time I drove it almost. Mostly the lower control arm links that are 3 mm. My point is the RC crawler hobby is MUCH cheaper than any of the 1.1 things that are out there. So get a Losi Crawler and have fun with it, Losi will make the CVD problem right its just takes time.

Thanks,

So far my replacements are fine. Turned down the stearing to about 80% and all is good. Ran for about 25 minutes last night. Got into a couple of binds but nothing serious.

After a frustrating week of breaking CVD's and smoking a motor, I can say that I am more than happy that I bought the Losi. Through all of the shared information on this forum, I finally got it set up and it's doing some amazing things.
I wish it came out of the box with no headaches or problems but on the other hand, I have torn it apart and understand how it works and what I need to do to get it running correctly.
Thanks to Rich and Horizon for stepping up with replacement parts so quickly. Also, thanks to all of the helpful info. from everyone on these forums. Just take your time with it and it will reward you in the end.
