So I am sure all of you have been anxiously waiting to hear my end all be all opinion

Well my Comp Crawler came in this afternoon. I looked it over while at work, first impression is great. Fit and finish of the parts is much better than the MRC. My crawler is number: RC-000760 for the record.

Cons

Of course I want to bitch about a few things right off the bat. Just looking at the standard hardware pisses me off. Dumbest freaking idea ever. The beadlock screw heads are WAY too small. Also the links hitting the driveshaft at articulation is a poor design in my opinion. With the speed of the driveshafts in a worm gear truck I feel this should have been fixed.

We already know that the CVD's that came in this truck are not going to last, so we will skip that until I get it on the rocks.

I don't like side mounted body posts, it's a personal preference. However I also hate mounting bodies, so I will call that a wash.

Pros
The chassis looks top notch, Austin obviously did a great job getting his design ideas in there while he was with Losi, again great job. The shocks have been a choice of mine on my Berg comp rig for a year or so already. The electronics, battery and RX tray are in great spots. The wire routing clamp under the RX tray is a nice touch, way to go the extra mile.

The transmission feels smooth when operating it by hand, first impression seems great.

The size of these axles is great, clearance is amazing and steering is very nice (lets see if we get to keep all of it once we get some real CVD's).

The body is great, nice comp touch to the Grappler we are all used to seeing.

Oh yeah, the work has already began:

Tomorrow I will do the front C's and knuckles as well as the CVD's and servo mount. I will try to get a start on the transmission tomorrow as well. While I had the rear axle off I opened it up and added some heavy grease.

  • Futaba 4PK
  • Futaba S9157 (425oz/in @6.0v)

Harley......I hate to even say it, but I have had no issues with the CVD's yet. It seems to be a hit and miss thing and for once in my RC experience, I am the one who gets the good product.

It does very well for a shafty. I will be interested to see how you like it when you get it out on the rocks.

I really hope I am as lucky, I drive hard but not excessive. I'll watch my end points but I am going to give her hell!

Driving to work now, got the crawler with me so hopefully I can get more done.

Nice job dude,,,,,
I would really like to come up with a "quick fill" for the diffs. I wanted to put a pressure tap over the worm gear and insert grease there but the trays are in the way,,,
you seem pretty smart ( a little theatrical , but smart),,,
can you put this on our list of mods?
-about the small hardware on the BL'ss,,,if you put the wrench in there you will see they made the hole pretty deep to help keep it from stripping,,,your only goin into plastic so it should'nt get stuck and strip out,,,,
the advantage to the small hole is nothing gets stuck in there or pokes in there to hang you up or fill with dirt,,,JMHO
