Brushless MOA? So I'm in a dilema... I built a brand new LCC with the Eritex MOA kit tonight (very nice kit btw, fit and finish were great)... So I have a MOALCC Roller now sitting back in the box... I need to do the electronics. I have or will have: CS-170 TG Servo... (same as my other LCC) RX Novak's "The Dig" that I won in their Giveaway (Thanks Novak!) Other than that I'm a blank canvas for ESC(s), Motors, and battery(ies) I could go the same route as everyone else seems to be heading.. 35T motors, 3s Battery, Single ESC with Punk switch... But then I don't get to use the spiffy Novak Dig... Or I can find 2 ESCs, 35T motors, and 3s batteries and use the Novak Dig... OR! 2 Sensored brushless ESCs, 2 Sensored motors, 3s batteries and use the Novak Dig... The rub is I would want to go with some cheaper sensored kits to keep the cost reasonable... Would 11.5T sensored brushless motors be OK with the MOA conversion? They seem to be about 3000KV motors, so @ 12v 36,000 RPM ... What is the typical 35T motor RPM @ 12v? (20k?) I could get a pair of the ESCs+motors for about $240, and while that aint cheap, its about the same as getting 2 decent ESCs and brushed motors... And not too far off from a nice mamba, motors and punk switch... And it has that cool brushless factor :) So the big question is the 11.5T work decently with this conversion or should I be looking for something higher... Jason |
Go with Pullers and a Mamba!!!! |
Are you running 2s or 3s with that setup? Oh, and what pullers... |
The 480 12T Pullers on 3s"thumbsup" |
My buddy Sickvw66 just finished his Losi Moa. He's got sidewinder ESC and Punk dig with 2 traxxas Titan 23T's i told him to try it. Shoot 40.00 for 2 motors cant beat it. All on 3s works like a charm. Loads of wheel speed. Motors don't get hot at all. When i do mine thats what I'm doing |
And how do those 23t's do on the low end? Those are pretty big to yea? |
Smooth but not as smooth as a puller. Yeah they are huge. But they work if your on a budget. |
Mine works well with Dual Tekin RS ESC, Redline 17.5T Brushless sensored motor, dual 3s. I will try to take photos and will post it in separate thread. The placement of ESC is tricky as I tried many configurations and the waiting time for the ERITEX upgrade helped a lot. |

So you have 2 brushless motors, 2 ESC's, 2 3s lipos, a BEC yea?, servo, and RX:shock: I bet there is wires every where:lol: Got a thread link to it? |
I have seen your layout and its interesting. Mine is completely different. To explain briefly: 2x 3s Lipos are installed flat. Inserted on the side, no flipping of parts on top. My small fingers allows me to strap the Losi velcros easily. Motor wires allows full suspension articulation with enough space to program RS even when body is installed. Cleaned up wires with modified y-harness, clips, transparent electrical tape, etc. Rear Lipo supplying CC BEC powering RX and Servo and rear esc/motor Front Lipo powering front esc/motor. "thumbsup" |
I wana see picts of that rig! What TX are you running? How are those motors on low end power? |
I would not suggest dual batteries. One battery with proper capacicty and discharge is the way to go. If your batteries are at different voltage levels (which they will be due to different loads) you will get uneven power. Use 1 battery. |

Here is the link to my set-up and would much appreciate moreadvice as this is my first crawler: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/team-losi-comp-crawler/196244-my-lcc-moa-dual-esc-bl-17-5t-dual-3s.html |
So is 11.5turn too hot for the MOA conversion? 3000kv |

For now I'm going brushed... picked up a pair of Mamba Max's, and have my Novak Dig switch and will just run with some 35t motors for now until pullers are back in stock... |

Were you running MOA or a single 480 Mike |
I am using dual Sidewinders, with Holmes Hobbies 35 turn motors, CCBEC, and a Futaba 4PK. I really like this setup it is by far the best way to setup an M.O.A truck. |
2 titan 23turns and a tekin fxr.. doesn't get hot great low and high speed, i'm upping a tooth in the pinion to try and get rid of some of the clod stall "thumbsup" |
