| Just got a LCC, still confused on the spool problems.
I just picked up a NIB LCC from ebay. While I was waiting for it to be shipped I started doing some research. When it came I saw my truck number is RC-000043. The replacement CV shafts were slid into the box when I got it, so I'm not worried about that. I'm still confused about the good/bad spool problems. Can someone please explain what the differance is? I have pleanty of 1:1 gearbox experiance, but virtualy nothing to do with worm drives. This is my first crawler so I'm sure I'll have pleanty of questions. Thanks for any help! |

Do some reading in here and you'll see some pics of good and bad spools. You'll want to run the axles for a few min at the least to get a wear pattern started. Break them down and look at them. The wear on the spools should be in the middle of the gears, if its off on the side they may be bad, contact rich trujilo on here with a pic and he'll get you worked out. |

the wrong ones will be cut straight. The correct ones will be slanted. Open the axles up and check the spool, its the only way to find out. GL. |

Thanks for the info guys! It'll be a bit before I get this thing all together and running. I'll be building it as I have the money. To run the axles, is it OK to attach a drill or other motor source instead of actually running the crawler?

Here is a pic of spool that are cut wrong. The teeth are slanted up from left to right. Correct spools are slanted down from left to right. |

| Ya that's how most people have done it. I didn't and have been running it a few months now with no problems even with the stock version 1 axles!

I'm still a total Noob when it comes to my LCC but I didnt do anything other than run it and have had no problems with the axles. Seems like a waste of time FWIW. | |

| worm gear
My lcc, had the right gears but almost no grease in the front !!!! The back had some. If anything it's good to check em, clean em & then put the grease to em. |
