Default Night Crawler upgrades.

Hello guys, I got a Night Crawler the other week and I am already wanting to do some upgrades and my wife is needing some Christmas ideas. I know that I want a stronger steering servo and dont really know which one is best. I was also thinking new shocks. What are you guys running or recommend? Thanks

i have a night crawler. . . i've put on weights in the tires, changed servo, added a BEC, and change the pinion from the stock 20t to a 24t to give me a bit more on wheel speed to pop out on obstacles. . . . . but the motor is a bit weak,. . . might change it also in the future, but it's all good for now. . .

As above, they are good out the box, and if you dont abuse it too much will last.

I have the Hodbodies Rover tyres, with the 2 stage over sized foams in.
That has made a real difference for me.

Also running on a 2S lipos in the battery tray.

Oh and have disconnected the lights from the receiver...

for a servo something in the 200+ oz range i think is ideal and some new wheels. the motor is a little week and it could use a bit more wheel speed. with some wheel weight the NC is very impressive for a RTR crawler.

After running a few battery packs in the Night Crawler on the rocks. This is what I found.
1: Way Top heavy with 7.2v
fix 3s Lipo mounted on the front axle.
2: Lower control arms hang up on break over obstacles.
fix: Get some real aluminum arms from the CompCrawler
3:Needs weight in the front. See #1 fix and...
fix: Added Solder around wheel 2 oz ea wheels.
4:Motor is too weak. It can't go forward with the wheels turned on flat ground.
fix: Replace motor with a real 540 can that has end-bell tuning for torq. Had a trinity Monster Mash 13 turn in my RC parts box.

would be nice to have DIG option.

Thanks guys, I have already weighted the wheels, 8 oz in the front and 4 in the back and it really made a difference. I was thinking about trying to make my own links. I do want to upgrade the motor but I want to get the smaller stuff done first. I like the looks of the Rover tires too.

I took mine out today for the first time... It definatly needs a stronger steering servo, and some better wheels. Overall though I was impressed with it out of the box. The LIPO I have is too damn big, and made it top heavy, so I need to go to a smaller one, and move it ontop of the steering servo... I think I will be switching out the motor, and ESC eventually.

A normal should fit, thats what I have on the comp and they are similar.
Just move the supports outward a bit.

Compared both and they are the same mount.

Mine was fine stock, but with my weighted fatties the servo was way to weak and thought the motor was to gutlass. So put on a 645 hitec servo and got a 45 turn motor now its perfect just waiting for my lipo to get here.

Anyone have both the LNC and an LCC? How much did each cost and how do they compare? Is the LNC even close to the LCC?
