Thoughts on Losi MOA with HH7t motors

What would be a good ESC/BEC/battery setup for a Losi MOA using two Holmes Hobbies Cobalt 7t motors? Or am I crazy for even trying this? I am going to build a 2.2 comp rig and am new to the hobby (been 1:1 crawling for a while.)

I would go with a Holmes esc..Shouldn't need a bec with it,if you did though just get a castle bec..Lipo battery,3s,30c+ rating.

I run 10T's in mine and love it. I know about 3 guys that run the 7's and it works well.

Esc, go with the Holmes. I run a MM and it gets pretty warm without a fan on it.

Thanks guys. Just waiting for the Eritex MOA kits to get back in stock somewhere. "thumbsup"

i'm running 7t and they work great, go with a torquemaster br-xl esc and you'll need a battery that can handle at least 60 amps continuous (i think thats the specs for 3s) i'm running 3 a123 cells

Cool, thanks. I've got a Torquemaster ESC on the way. I also have a pair of Warrior-LE 35t motors coming in as well. I'll have to make a decision soon on which motors to run.

Close to decision time. I'll have a choice between running the 7t's or the Warrior-LE 35t motors.

I have one Torquemaster ESC, a Punk Dig, and a Hitec 7955tg servo, and I'll be using either a Nomadio React or Futaba 4PK radio (I'll be trying both and deciding which one to keep. I LOVE the computer programming the React offers, but the 4PK looks to be a lot more user friendly in the field.) Would I be better off running dual Torquemaster ESC's and not using the Punk Dig?

Don't go with the React, Nomadio is not supporting their products any longer:shock:.

If you want the ultimate set up, the 4PK and dual ESC's is the way to go. Realistically, for 90% of people, 1 esc and a Punk Dig will be fine. Your choice on how much coin you want to drop.

ShockTherapy 01-04-2010 06:40 AM

I'm not concerned about lack of support from Nomadio, there is plenty of info out there about the React, and the computer interface is VERY nice. The 4pk definitely looks better. I'm sure I'll end up keeping the 4pk but I want to give both of them a try before I sell one.

The more I read and the more advice I get, the more I think I'll end up selling the Punk Dig and going dual ESC's. The $$$ doesn't bother me too much, I sold my 1:1 and this is pretty much replacing it for a while.

Run the HH pullers. We have a guy locally out here running moa on his Lcc and warmed over 35t motors and one of them burns up at evry comp. Before you think, "that guy doesnt know what he is doing" He does....he has been working with rc motors longer then alot of us on here have been alive. Without more gear reduction  you will have the same result.

I'll be running the pullers. Something got messed up on the shipment of the Warrior-LE's, so the pullers it is. One less decision to make.
