losi crawler questions
 

let me try this again,hopefully it stays here and doesnt get moved to the newb section.

I only want advice from those who know these trucks.
nobody in our club used them enough to know much.
they have all gone berg.

I want to use the losi axles and poosibly the trans in a scale project.
I have seen many night crawlers cheap enough to get.
but I wa worried the internals may be of a lesser material.
same with the trans.

I do need to keep overall wieght down though as this project will end up heavy up top already.

and then my next concern is speed. can you swap the internals for overdrive/more wheelspeed like you can on the axial?

otherthan that I guess my only consern is that I have heard
that brushless is the way to go with these trucks.
cuz the drivetrain is not efficient?

has anyone got any tips to improve the efficiency of the worm gears?

no there is no way to make it more eff. nite crwal has diff gears in the trans an is way they can run a brushed motor like the do an i dont think it would be the best truck for the job your doing imo

The LNC has less expensive shocks, links, and the transmission is nondig. Speed with an LNC transmission will be a problem it is geared way lower than the LCC, so I think to get any speed you would run into motor heat problems. The axles have the V3 shafts which are actually tougher than the LCC shafts, and the axle internals are both the same.

You would not be happy with a scaler based from a lnc. The worm gears are not only inefficient but do not coast. I would run ax 10 axles with a lower ratio and brushless motor if it was me.

one thing about the losi axle is it appears that if on a tandem axle.
I could use a moa on one axle and drive both that axle and the one behind it with a conecting driveshaft? but it looks like the pinion covers the intire
output shaft that the driveshaft conects to.

but on the worm set up does the front and rear axles turn the same direction like theyt do on a axial?

what I mean is if looking from the front on the truck. when driving forward.
do both front and rear driveshafts spin
clockwise/counter
or is one spinning each direction?

They both spin the same direction.

I looked into doing the same thing, even have two sets of axles I was planning on using. I figured since I have an LCC it would be cheaper to keep parts for both if they were both based on the same axles. After a lot of consideration I dropped the idea though and picked up some Axial axles.
