Default Motor ?

I'm running a Novak 18.5t silver can crawler motor with a goat 3s esc and the motor is getting very very hot. I'm running a 12 tooth pinion and the gear mesh is good. Can't seem to figure it out and it doesn't even have as good a torque as I would have though. Thanks Taylor

do you have the correctly cut worm gears? do you grease them regularly?

How would I know if I have to correct gears? I've run it 3 times since I bought it and greased them once.

open up your axles and see if the gears have a pitch that falls to the right, while your there id make a gease port in the axle cases so its easy to keep it greased

my guess would be binding in the drivetrain or the worms as i am using the same motor with the stock rotor with a 13t pinion and have no heat issues and plenty of torque on 3s

how do you put grease ports in your axles? i would say that the worm spools are a set of bad ones but just my opinion

You drill a little hole in the axle casing and use a button head or set screw for a plug.

Pull the axles apart and check the worm gears. While you do that, put lot's of grease in them. Then, when you start driving again, USE THE DIG!! A lot! You are binding up the drive train and that amp loads the motor and will cause it to over heat.

You may have already fried the motor ... You might bring it by your local crawler hobby shop and have them take a look.

Ok, so I greased everything again, checked the gears, they seamed fine, and added a small fan for the motor. I ran it for maybe 10min and it barely got warm i wasn't working it really hard. I got a new battery 3s battery because I think it was part of the problem. Has way more power now! We'll see how it holds up.

when you put grease ports do you just put grease in the hole and how do you get it to move throughout the diff?
