When you say hot, what are the numbers? I feel my motor with my pansy hands, and feels scorching. Put the temp gun to it and it is about 130. Which is well within spec.

First, make sure that you have plenty of grease at the spool and pinion in the axles. Major importance.

I would drop a couple teeth on the pinion, and see where temps end up.

Also check the drive train for binding. Mostly in the axles. Ollie did a fantastic write up on what to check for as far as binding does. I have used it many times. Here is the link...

LCC noise

LNC is a great platform. You will have a blast with it. I have 100s of packs through my LCCs, and they get more and more fun.

My first gut feeling is gear mesh. That means you have the pinion (motor) too close to the spur gear.
That's the single most common newbie mistake (and I've done my fair share of it!) and the result is high motor temps.

Your pinion should be fine for the LNC gears.
