| Losi night crawler motor esc?
Hi I have a lnc with a timbuk2 18.5t ballistic brushless combo 17t pinion.is this the correct pinion as the mtr gets really hot(?) I have posted this elsewhere but have been adviced to post here.im new to crawling but enjoy it.any help or suggestions would be awesome.

First, make sure that you have plenty of grease at the spool and pinion in the axles. Major importance. I would drop a couple teeth on the pinion, and see where temps end up. Also check the drive train for binding. Mostly in the axles. Ollie did a fantastic write up on what to check for as far as binding does. I have used it many times. Here is the link... My first gut feeling is gear mesh. That means you have the pinion (motor) too close to the spur gear. That's the single most common newbie mistake (and I've done my fair share of it!) and the result is high motor temps. Your pinion should be fine for the LNC gears. |
