Decided to hack at the Chassis Well I made some drawings for designs for a new chassis. Since I'm not familiar with delrin I will be using aluminum. I plan on using the shock arms off the LCC and just plan on making the main frame itself. I may end up making the shock arms with more adjustability but to start with it will be LCC stockers or some carbon fiber ones if I can locate some. This will take a while to make as my only real time to work on this is weekends here and there and occasionally, a week night here and there. After looking at the chassis and taking some measurements, I decided to go make some changes to this chassis as the one I plan on fabricating will look quite similar. I'de rather pick up an aftermarket chassis, such as the Phoenix or Ringer but the market isnt there. Here's a picture of what was done. http://imageshack.us/a/img703/1527/imag1410o.jpg |
Re: Decided to hack at the Chassis Very Nice, curious how it performs. Got my wheels turning. |

Crelesy, I was actually thinking something similar to that when I first had the idea to change some things around. Dentonmac, appreciate it. Deiselmudder, I'll get some pics up tomorrow. The chassis is pretty much done Not Detailed yet, however the chassis is pretty much done here. It has also been narrowed. http://imageshack.us/a/img580/8752/imag1419.jpg Pic of it narrowed. http://imageshack.us/a/img213/742/imag1421.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img23/5761/imag1420.jpg The front upper links are there just temporary for mock up perposes. |
Re: Decided to hack at the Chassis Thanks, following this build. Did you use stock rod ends or jato? |

Re: Decided to hack at the Chassis Looks great man, I love how you've used the original chassis, very ingunewitive(i think thats how you spell it), by the way what wheels are they? Axial? And the battery tray looks good too, I see you angled it to lower the cog? Another question what size servo is that and is the turnigy working good for you. Well I think that covers everthing. Ow pics are a little big lol. |
Re: Decided to hack at the Chassis Quote:
They are Axial Rockster and so far no complaints with them. The Servo is the 959 and at 200 oz a bit underpowered.....after Christmas is a new servo.:ror: |
Re: Decided to hack at the Chassis Thanks for the info. Yeah it definatly should help on breakovers. |
Re: Decided to hack at the Chassis Decided to redo the steering. The servo is mounted but still need to finish up battery side and then comes cleaning it up, and then primer and paint. I decided to make the drag link, not sure if I like it. Also, relocated the steering link to the rear of the axle. Pics are below. http://imageshack.us/a/img16/7452/imag1438v.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img37/4608/imag1437w.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img834/3440/imag1439q.jpg |
Re: Decided to hack at the Chassis NIIIIICE.. like it so far!"thumbsup" |
Re: Decided to hack at the Chassis Well, after Christmas and New Years, I was finally able to finish it up and take a few photos. I cant wait to get some wheel time to see if the work pays off, I think the added ground clearance and the skid will help on break overs. With 4 inches at the rear of the skid and 3 1/2 at the front of skid, it should help. recent mods include: -Narrowed and hacked chassis -Rear lower links -front over the axle battery and servo tray -dig mount -behind the axle steering link -made a steering drag link http://imageshack.us/a/img109/5365/imag1449.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img221/5839/imag1450c.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img203/5836/imag1451.jpg [Ihttp://imageshack.us/a/img27/8152/imag1452d.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img163/1146/imag1458d.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img27/8152/imag1452d.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img27/8152/imag1452d.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img27/6301/imag1456.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img802/9365/imag1455.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img703/4839/imag1454.jpg |
