Default Scaler night crawler......kinda

Well, I was on the fence about getting rid of my night crawler so I decided to switch it up a bit. It still crawls better than my scx10 but not a good as before. I am going to lower the body just a bit. Bt for now I'm pretty happy with it. Looks straight out of the 80's. ps: not done yet, still need bracing and bumpers

Wow, that actually looks pretty good. Kind of sad I ditched mine... Absolutely love the worm gear axles!

Keep the worms greased and you wont have a heat problem. I routinely run my LCC/Scaler on 3 mile trail runs. My rig is 8 lbs, has a 13.5 motor on 3S. Same set of HD worms for 18 months. Regular maintenance is key! I wouldn't trade my worms for any other axle out there.

Speed is also an issue. I bet you don't cover those three miles in half an hour.

Running slow (averaged over five minute windows) is also fundamental for keeping the worms cool.

You're absolutely right Olle P, truck runs at a brisk walking pace (about 12MPH). I cover my 3 mile hikes, with stops for trail obstacles along the way in around 2 hours.

"Brisk walk" is 4 mph. That was my top speed before going to BL on 4S.
My crawler doesn't even theoretically reach 12 mph, even at full throttle on 4S LiPo.
Even 12 kph is hard to reach...
