Decased mmp or micro x is as small as you can get for BL esc. Holmes puller pro stubby is a good BL motor too.

Ya, I keep forgetting about those motors. Is that the kv your gonna go with? I think they have a 2850kv in that size too.

Yep. Thinking the 2850 on 3s should do the trick. Also looking at the Holmes stubby

Shocks showed up without the RCBro's order. 18.99 for two was not a bad deal from LiquidRC on Amazon. I used some old shit I had lying around to get them functional.

Rear:

Front:

I used the link mount location to bring them down a bit in the front. Even Traxxas 3.5" shocks are a bit long for this chassis with Losi axles. We'll see if they go back.

No wheels, but here's a shot from the side:

I guess I'll keep posting on this thread unless anyone thinks I should relegate this to another new one.

Tonights exercise in futility? Steering links. Previously this ran BTA, but I don't normally run BTA. I find that between the issues with link setup, dragging the link on the rocks, and the size of driveshafts plays too much for me to bother with. Tried out two setups, above and below the servo horn. I'm not happy with either, so it's going to change.... somehow.

I've built a few of these for members I built axles for. They tuck behind the servo arm. Just some 1/8" SS rod and a couple SS 3mm screws. Works pretty good. With your skills I'm sure you could put it together!

Outstanding! I saw that on your thread about the steering, but didn't find a good pic to work off of. I'm thinking I may have some 3/16" titanium rod that may do the trick after seeing that view. I'll bend and thread it over a quick weld because I don't have access to a welder.

Further work was done tonight, including an RCBro's order for the rest of the shock parts, and I would like to thank Chicklet for the wheels and tires that are now here. She did all the work on these Rovers, and I've got another full set, plus.... another full set.... plus.... well. I've got a lot of Rovers now, shaved and unshaved, but Chicklet did some DAMN fine work on these.

New Kicks and proper stance: Thank you to Chicklet!

But wait.... why do my CI wheels not properly fit the VP hubs? The hubs go past the plastic wheel and get distorted holes when screws are tightened?

Da fuq?

Fixed. Thanks Dravtech!!! I used the smallest 1mm shims to fix this.

Oh yeah. Lots of Rovers now. Also several NIP sets that are going to remain stashed away. These things work great in Texas.

Going to be running this thing brushless, and need a suggestion.

For people that have run the LNC transmission, should I go with the 1406-2850 Castle Sensored, or the 1406-3800 Sensored motor. They are 2850KV and 3800KV respectively, and I'll be running 3S packs.

It seems like the 2850KV was for high speed 3S, and the 3800KV was more for 2S packs. I think the extra KV won't hurt. I've decided on the Mamba Micro X V2.02 Crawler edition.

2850kv and 3s (then mess with gearing). You could even run 4s if you like to party.

JK, that esc is only rated for 2-3s.

I was running a roc412 3100kv on 3s with 20t pinion. Now I run a holmes puller pro stubby 3300kv on 3s with 18t pinion. And running a decased MMP. Only reason I went to the stubby is its shorter and lighter.

Yes, I like to party. Those PPS's are sensored too.... damnit. Getting outside of my budget for my son's new rig, but I'll bet it would be solid.

How fast, basically... not fast, but .... again, let me re-phrase. If you were to nail the throttle, with your setup on 3S, does it act at all jumpy? Clear a gap jumpy? Got a pic of the motor/ESC setup?

Anyways, found a body I like.

Don't know how this is not more out in the LNC Community. I have been having great success with this simple LNC tranny mod.

I am running a 14-15T pinion (I think), 17.5 on 3s, and at the comps it makes people say 'Dang, that is a Losi?'

Runs cool, and I have not found a loss in bottom end. But the top end is MUCH better, and the slow is still great. More compact footprint. Also really brings the brushed motors back into play as a viable option.

And, if you don't like it. New LNC tranny gears are ~$6.

I have done it to my sportsman (brushless), Class 2 (brushed), and working on a Class 1.

My current tranny has a 3,67 ratio,-have been tinkering with the LNC tranny and came up with this more compact 3,33 ratio LNC solution :

Motor is only for mock-up

Nice! I haven't had many updates due to having to replace the fuel tank in the 95 GMC truck. Burned out two fuel pumps before dropping the tank to find nothing but death in the tank.

Found a motor to bastardize. Lightly used Team Orion Revolution V2 endbell motor. I paired it with a Holmes Hobbies 27T handwound armature and also did the mod shown above here.

Will be a little longer before any other updates due to the 1:1 truck acting up. I've got a backup beater, but I can't be droppin' coin on the scale fun when that things not running.

Couple of updates. Got the steering set up, at least for now. I can see this changing in the future. Servo is just for mock up, it'll be replaced with something that has a lot more torque. RCBro's weights have been cut in half and attached that way.

Steering under the links. Not a huge fan, but it doesn't flop around or really get in the way. We'll see when she runs.

That LNC tranny mod is probably the best mod for the losi. It doubles the speed of the truck and with the hot racing gears you just press them apart. So to reverse it all you have to do is press them back together and flip it over
