Default Hot Racing - Night Crawler Parts

First, does anyone know where I can find the 2 metal trans gears? No one has them in stock anywhere.

Second, has anyone use the aluminum output housing (trans), aluminum motor plate, and aluminum counter gear mount? Is it necessary or just stay with plastic?

My trans mount is stripped so before I get another plastic one, wonder if I should just get the aluminum stuff? I also put my mmp and roc 412 3100kv on 3s in, so I want something that will hold up to this power (trans mount was stripped before brushless was installed).

Thanks.

Well bad news, talked to someone at hot racing and last time they ordered those gears was 281 days ago and he said they wont order anymore unless there's 300 people who want them. So wont ever see those gears again. Shitty.

Roc412 3100kv right now, night crawler trans, 20t pinion, 3s 1350mah 30c. I've ran it once so far just to see how I liked it, took it pretty easy too. Im keeping it brushless so just planning ahead.

I hate breaking stuff, so I overdue it so breaking rarely happens.

Try 2 cell
Or 2000 kv motor
Or 14 tooth pinion.

Right now you are 33% too much for stock plastic gears

That sucks... Then i rather stay on the safe side with the 21,5T setup.
Thank for the info.

Honestly, if I change anything, I would only go up in kv or pinion. Guess I better keep plastic spares on me a lot.

Where is this 33% to much for stock plastic gears comin from?

I kept upgrading the lnc until the plastic gears stripped.
3 cell, 2000kv and 23 tooth pinion was the break point for me.
I used a long run of rock work stairs as the testing ground.

Your results will vary as I was easy on the throttle.

Check the math threads

Start a poll to see if there are 300 or more buyers!

You ought to just call that your opinion. We're all entitled to our opinions. I use a monster AxleBuster 20T on 4S and plastic gears. It's the fastest Losi I've seen. Yes I have to change out the plastic gears but I get about a dozen, maybe more comp days on a set and they're cheap. I have a pile of spares against the day they become unavailable. If I ever run out, I have a set of metal gears on the shelf.

can you please post your motor kv and pinion. and gearing if not stock. I like adding them to the math threads to help others.

I have only seen my losi - thus it would be the fastest Losi that I have seen

I don't know how to translate brushed to kv. So all I can tell you is it's a massive 25 turn motor on 4S (not 20T like I said before). Pinion is up around 18 I believe and the gearing is the HD front and OE rear.

I've only had the plastic tranny gear fail once on me in several years of comps and that was my fault for not paying attention as it was wearing down. Now days my maintenance is a twice-yearly tear down to finger each bearing, inspect the motor innards and replace the plastic gears. A lot of the gears still look okay, so I keep them as secondary spares.

Got this info from Eddie about AxleBuster kv :

25t is 1965 or so... 35t is around 1500, 30t is about 1760
