With an LNC tranny, I am running a sensored 13.5 on a 3 cell, and I think a 14T pinion.

With the LCC tranny you must use smaller pinions.
Pinions 12-15T is a good range.
Motors...
Brushless two-poles in the 13.5T - 17.5T range depending on battery voltage is the cheap option.
Any Tekin ROC412 or Holmes Hobbies Revolver S are premium options. (I use a Revolver S Stubby to save weight.)

Running the LCC as a sporty you should remove the dig forks to reduce friction. (Read my friction thread to learn more.)

I run a 21.5 with high torque rotor and a 12t pinion. 4s battery with mmp cheat (boost) enabled the last 25% or so of throttle pull.

Tekin roc 412 3100kv on 3s, 20t pinion with lnc tranny here. HH puller pro stubby is a good option, I want to try one out.

Cheers for the advice. Has anyone tried using an outrunner in one? I know they can cog at low speed but with the worm gear ratio id have thought it would take that out?

The Revolver S motors are outrunners (hence "Revolver", and S for "sensor"), and I do use it.

Sensored outrunners are silk smooth!

You have any video of it crawling? What pinion range you run?

I've been having quite a bit of success with big Un-sensored Outrunner as a direct drive setup.

My latest C3 scaler only weighs 4.1lbs
I'm using a Turnigy 850KV motor with a Castle Sidewinder Micro ESC on 3S.

The vehicle is AMAZING.

That doesn't even sound very expensive. You say scaler -- is it also appropriate for shafty comp?

Performance videos?

Its not expensive at all! I think these Turnigy motors are like $30.00

Shafty comp could probably work...Its not the smoothest setup. But i have found with the ESC setup correctly and a linear throttle curve, these big outrunners are not terrible by any means.

Because these motors are inexpensive, I recently bought and installed an 1100KV motor. I havnt taken out on the rocks / trail yet due to work and weather, but preliminary garage testing is VERY PROMISING! Wheelspeed is fantastic!

The other benefit to me is light weight! If you all are familliar with a typical SORRCA Based Class 3 Scaler, the average weight is about 8 lbs.

My rig (with -37 scale points) RTR is currently 4.1 lbs!!!!

Low speed cogging is not terrible. Its actually VERY Drivable!

There is a bit of a learning curve, however, with the ESC setup with standard Linear throttle, its all in the trigger! Once your rolling, it'll creep pretty well. As far as downhill? Definitly not as smooth as a sensored brushless, but again, easy to overcome.
