Default Losi Steering mod design

I didn't want to take over Snapon Boys thread, so thought it would be best to start a build thread for a new axle design. I already realize that the need for this is very small. I'm looking at this as more of a service than a business venture. Will share how to build these when I done, so those of you that want can try them yourself.

So give me some design ideas on what you might like to have.

I'm looking forward to seeing the out come. There's a lot of discussion if the amount gained will be worth it. If it's not totally outrageous on the price for the mod, I don't see why more steering would be bad.

Is there any reason you are looking towards the scx10 II stuff I saw you mention in another thread?

The SSD chubs are a clamping style that I have used on other axle mods, so I guess it is the designability of the product.

Curious to see what you come up with but I would like to see another TAG kit be made. Added width is needed for extra steering and the glued on tangs were a good idea because there easy for anyone to modify (you make tangs and user just needs to cut and glue on) and if they break, glue them back on. Or if you could add a pin/or flats to help keep it locked together would be cool. AR60 knuckles are also good idea since VP has clamping chubs and tons of options for knuckles and knuckle weights.

Thanks for the input 84yoda. The design I have now is going to have 2-3 oz of brass in them for weight. My thoughts were that since scale builds are really coming on that most of the interest would be for stock width. With what I have I could adjust the width out. I machine the housing to take the brass insert I have put together. I have not seen a tag kit, just a pic that Snapon Boy sent me, but I don't think it will be as much of a kit as what he had. The brass can be turned to take any style chub, but a clamping type would be best. That way you could use knuckle of choice and weights.
I will do a few photos once I get parts from McMaster Carr and RPP.

OK, only time will tell what I come up with. Like I said, I'm 67, retired (and want to stay that way) and not looking for a business venture. I just like to tinker in my shop and take on design challenges. I thought if I could help some of you Losi guys out I would give it a shot.

Are you going to be working on the axle shafts as well? Adapt axial unis or other wise.

Yes, I think I have the stock width figured out already.

So this gonna be something more for the scale guys and stock width Im assuming since you mention clamp on c-hub and not pro rigs?

He said he can add width but really stock width is kinda pointless since you can't use the extra steering. That's the whole idea is more steering so you need the added width up front. I don't think a lot of scaler guys will buy this when they can just run scx10.2 axles.

Still interested to see what he comes up with for sure, one of these days Ill actually build my Losi un-Stuck lol.

Lot of benefits to a Losi axle still on the scale world

I check with Erik on some parts and cost for what I'm thinking. Trying to design these for durability but trying to keep the cost down, not a easy task.

I think the design can be used for both, just change some dimensions. When I'm done with the design it may be something you would want to start building.

That it is, I think that is what I will use for the first one I build.

Ok, a few photos to peak your interest. Only a proto type, still have a lot to do. This set up would be mainly scale width.

[URL=http://s1264.photobucket.com/user/ledspots/media/beeftubes/IMG_7739.jpg.html][/URL

10" wide with the offset on these wheels, did pics of the wheels, they have a centered offset.

Compared with stock comp axle. Stock is 7 1/2" hex to hex, mod is 7 7/8" hex to hex.

I want to thank snapon boy, GIjoe, and Robbob for their input in putting these together.
