Funny you would mention this...

I am trying to put together a number of spots relatively close that have completely different types of rock and formations than each other so that each one would be really different. Heck... I've even been out with a rake at some of these places trying to groom them into a good crawl spot.

Give me a few days and I'll tell you what I have come up with. It involves a little comp series, and a website, and will hopefully bring people this way for comps instead of so far away.

I could use some help though. Think the Cleveland Crawlers would be willing? Since I'm a nobody and you guys are part of the Crawler in crowd... maybe you could help me generate enough interest to have some pretty good numbers.

Not exactly between here and K-Ville, but have you ever taken the crawler to Racoon Mountain Pumped Storage Plant?

And does Dayton count? It's between Cleveland and Knoxville... but sorta over to the side I have a place there tocomp that I'm working on.

Cherokee Removal Park... at the the old ferry crossing at HWY 60. It's been closed for a year for upgrades, but I remember there being some killer rocks at the overlook to the river. Checked it out today and it's going to be open soon.

I was a little surprised by this one.... I have been there 100 times and always thought it was just regular old small quarry rock / rip rap... but I went tonight with crawlin in mind...

The Chickamagua Dam has steep slopes of HUGE quarry rock and boulders at least 200 yards in length from one end to the other and about 100 feet or more from the bottom sidewalk to the top sidewalk. There are literally hundreds of possible comp courses. The bigger boulders all seem to be concentrated together in several areas to make nice difficult crawler runs.

I like places like Little Rock City better by far because it's scenic and natural... but for a man made pile of rocks... this is pretty darn good. I'd say since there is plenty of parking and bathrooms, you'd have to add this one to the list of local comp spots.

I would have gotten pictures, but it was dark.

What's up here??? Am I doing all the work?

In Dayton... a couple of miles behind the Lay-z-Boy factory there is a park called Laurel Snow Falls State Area. It's a graded dirt road in with a big parking area but no pottys. Your'e in the woods though

There are two types of rock there. On the hill, you have old course granite protruding from the ground. It's OK and would be possible to make a couple of courses out of... but there would be flat ground between some of the rocks.

In the riverbed... you have some of the coolest, craziest mixture of rocks I have ever seen!!! You have big river rock that is rounded and smooth, but you also have river bed rock that comes up and forms awsome ledges and natural features.... then you have some huge boulders that fell from the cliffs above into the river a few hundred years ago. It goes on like that for miles.

There are plenty of course options right by the parking lot, but you have to walk up river about 50 yards to get to the best stuff. I took pictures, but they are huge. I need to shrink them tonight and put them on here.

It is in a deep canyon, so it's shaded too.
