YES! HUGE thanks to Jeremy, Jason, and Mike! Way to get it done! Those boulder's on Mike's wrecker are unreal! I'm impressed a bobcat was able to move them.

I would have been happy to help you guys if I wasn't holed up like Howard Hughes... I owe yall some beers for sure.

We stopped at the scales on the way home...just under 9 tons of rock between these two trucks.

Made alot of progress today! Only took 15 hours to do it with only a couple minor injuries, damn cacti. Would like to give a big thanks to The Hansens and Jason for all the help and great food. It was a very successful day! Here is a few pics of the rocks we hand picked for GCRCRC.

overhead view

Just for size comparison, the flatbed truck has a 8x21ft bed

Another big thanks to the guy who loaded the big rocks for us(his name was Jeremy also) with a bobcat.

The life saver

This rock weighs every bit of 2000lb

Brought some crawlers for size comparison

We were running a little behind on schedule but still managed to stop and weigh the rocks. With both trucks combined we have about 18,000lb of very nice rock.

weighing the rigs

Im very pleased with the progress made today. This is a great addition for GCRCRC. I actualy had a good time doing this. Thanks again Jeremy and Jason for all the help to make this happen.

Growing up out there I've had more than my fair share of cactus spines, they go through jeans when you run through it full speed. We used to play hide and seek at night all the time.

Thats badass yall weighed it, I'm blown away with how much yall got. You weren't kidding Jeremy.

Lol, I sure was'nt running when I hit my cactus. Not with a 50lb rock in my hands. Still had to dig the spines out though. Now Jason on the other hand, not sure what he was doing. I looked back after hearing some rumble and see him faceplant into a bed of cactus.

The sad part about taking these rocks is we did'nt even make a dent in what was there. There is some rocks up there that have to weigh in the 7000-10,000lb range. Nucking futts man!

Yeah, we were all curious. After we left, the owner of the property (who wasn't there when we loaded the rocks) called my dad and asked if we had been there and loaded any....because he couldn't tell that there were any missing.

Yup....other than the catus faceplantit was a good trip. I got lucky tho, the cactus could have been way worse. Thankfully it was more of a brush with it instead of a full on crash . I had fun tho and like mike said,
BIG thanks to the Hansen's for their hospitality. Those sandwiches they sent us down the road with were damn near worth the drive by themselves
I may be swinging by the course today since im gonna be in the area. I'll get some pics of what we've put on the ground so far.
Big thanks to Jeremy and Mike, Glad we got to make the trip and cactus or no cactus I'm always down if we need to go after more!

Haha! My dad called this morning and was asking when we were coming back to haul stuff from his place! I am thinking that another trailer load full of smaller stuff might not be a bad idea....

I agree. More filler can only help. We could do a one truck and trailer trip and still get quite a few. Ken will probably be down to make a run with his heavy trailer once he gets to feelin better. The more the merrier as far as rocks go!

That sounds good to me. I think we should hold a GTG sometime after the end of February (obviously before the March comp) and have folks help us build and move all of this stuff, then we can decide if we need more rock, what type and where it should be placed.

You know I'm down to help after the end of this month! I also have a truck and access to quite a few trailers.....

AWESOME!!
That's a good haul, looks like primo rock! I saw rock like that at some ranch I wheeled past Katemcy, how far did you guys have to go? I think I saw that limestone type rock in the hill country too.
That would be amazingly expensive if you bought it retail.
Great score.

Yep, that is Central Texas. My folks live near Wimberley, just west of San Marcos which is a few hours south of Katemcy. It is all limestone rock (the live over the Edwards Aquifer Recharge Zone)...it's porous, sharp and will eat your tires! These big rocks we took off of my Dad's friend's cattle ranch. The rocks were easy to get to and we were doing him and his cows a favor. If we need some smaller stuff, we'll grab it from my parent's land (just a few miles away).

We were discussing the cost on the way back.....Mike was saying that rock sells for ~$130/Ton in our area......so we scored over $1000 worth of rock for just the cost of gas and the bobcat operator's time.

These rocks will really add to the course that some of our members have been building.
