2012 Texas State Finals!!!

Hello Ladies and Gents, this years Texas State Finals is being hosted by Gulf Coast Radio Control Rock Crawlers, at the beautiful Big Rocks Park in Glen Rose, TX.

When: June 23, 2012

Where: Big Rocks Park in Glen Rose, TX

What: 1.9, 2.2s, 2.2 pro, and Supers!

Who: Anyone!

Why: Fun courses, Beautiful scenery, Good friendly competition. Also, top 4 qualified drivers in each class are competing for an invite for the 2012 USRCCA Holmes Hobbies Nationals. But is that it.........

Nope! Top 3 drivers, qualified or not, are competing for 13 trophies! This will be a first for Texas State Finals since I have been coming (2009).


Comp Info:

The course building will begin at 7:00am, tech will take place during course building, and drivers meeting will follow shortly afterwards. Hoping to have courses being run by 8:00am at the latest.

ETX, NTX, and GCRCRC will all build and run their own course for each class, using their own comp materials. GCRCRC will handle score sheets and entering. Once again the hope is to have each club build a course that best represents themselves. This can be based on # of gates, time length, type of gates, bonus lines, etc.

King - $70/night (non-smoking)

He held 5 of each for us and they will be released on June 14th....so reserve before then.

Looks like there is water at the park so bring your bathing suits!

I was thinking it would be cool if each club grilled, brought food, other lunch items, etc. so that we could take a mid day lunch break to refuel and beat the heat.

The City of Glen Rose is very excited to have Texas State Finals this year, and has even offered resources to help support the event. I am hoping that we do not need them.

The City is also going to add the event to the City's event calander so that all the locals can stop by and watch! I bet it makes it into the local paper.

This is exactly what I assumed would be the case. I've said it before and will say it again...I would have killed to see a rc crawler comp when I was a kid playing on the rocks at the river. Crawling is struggling to keep interest and needs new blood...not sure how holding comps in classified private locations all the time will bring the new blood.

Oakdale RV Park is right across the street from Big Rocks Park. Camp for $20 a tent or you can get a cabin for as little as $70 a night.

That is great to hear that the city is excited to have the event at their park. Okla. cities want their money and then proof of insurance before you can use their parks. I may have to write them a nice letter Thanking them for all their hospitality.
