Default 40 Series BEADLOCKS

well, the last thing on the list to get:
40 Series Beadlocks.
has anyone been running the Axial Narrow 40 Series that suit Moab XLs?
how have you been finding them?
do they grab the bead well?
hexes stripping?

is there anything else on the market apart from the Axial Narrows and the Proline Cheyennes?

seems most of the concentration is on the 2.2 size and not the Supers these days so if anyone has came across a really decent/must have 40 series beadlocks - id be interested hearing about them!
(im going to run Moab XLs so they must fit them).

A buddy of mine (saul) is using the axial narrow 40 series beadlocks on his super. They seem pretty tough, his moabs are not coming out of the beadlocks. Also there is Maximizer beadlocks you can look into. Prolines are awesome but, they have 23mm hex's the axial's are 17mm hex's

i have the axials, with the 40 series 'slingers mounted to them... they're great! they hold the bead just fine (so far at least) and they seem pretty tough. the hexes aren't stripping yet, but i think that's going to have a lot to do with your adapters and their size/tolerence to the wheel. i have a set of 17mm plastic adapters that fit like a glove, and i also have aluminum hexes that have a tiny amount of play - which may develop larger over time.

you're right - there's only a few options for us that have supers. i'd love to see more narrowed tires myself.

Heh. They aren't on a crawler... But my friend uses the Axial Beadlocks on Moabs and Imex IHawgs... (Imex tires really shouldn't fit, but they do). haven't had any problems at all with them... I even tried them on my set up (which I can normally tear tire away from rim), and they held up fine in dirt at speed, so I assume they should do well with crawlers..

RC4WD also makes 40 series beadlocks... But I believe they get pricey.

The Axial 40 series beadlocks narrowed to 2" and my Moabs XL's went together so easyI wish the axial 2.2 wheels and tires went together that easy

I am using them on my E-Revo with pro-line 40 series mulchers on one set and road rages on another, I can pull the bead out by hand most of the time, and the plastic hexes just don't hold up to my kind of abuse. maybe I am not getting the bead set right? other people seem to not be having a problem.

When I saw this thread thats the first thing I thought of-RC4WD has some amazing looking alloy ones.

http://rc4wdstore.com/product_info.p...roducts_id=647

And then slightly less expensive:

http://rc4wdstore.com/product_info.p...roducts_id=477

These are obviously extremely expensive choices, but theyre probably the nicest you can find.

they are some nice rims!
cant see myself forking out that sort of $$$ at this stage though.
so it seems the Axial Narrows are holding up nicely.
price is right, construction is right and they also look good so i think it has been confirmed.
Axial Narrows it is.

i will also be using the 17mm adaptors from ThunderTechRacing as i am using their CVDS as well.
i hear that with the Axial Narrows, the TTR adaptors and JPs knuckles you wont fit the knuckle packs in - am i hearing right?
no biggie any way, ill work something out.

i've been running the proline 40 series with the narrowed moabs for about a year and had absolutly no problems with the hexes or bead. when the narrowed axials came out i had to have them and mounted some mud slingers on them. i like the wheel except the offset is way different then the prolines making my stance way wider now with the axials. i guess depending on personal preference, that could be good or bad. i like a skinnier rig though. as for the tires, i think the moabs are grippier. the tread pattern seems a little tight on the slingers.
