Default Driving the Rock Crusher 1.9's

So i don't know if this is the right place to ask this question, but lots of us are using the soft compound rock crusher XT's on projects now. And they look amazing. The tread is very scale looking and just fantastic.

I had my first run on them today and part of it could have just been the terrain. We were down at San Pedro at the beach so its like tidal rock.

They seem to flex pretty good with the stock foams, maybe could be a little better but I don't have my wheels weighted. Maybe weight+airhole+memory foam is necessary? But I thought that was more of a "comp" thing

Sidelug grip seems excellent but "flat" traction seems to be substantially worse than my 1.9 Trail Dr's were. Now I am theorizing that this is because of the more realistic lugs and that there is less room for the rock to get between lugs. The lugs even in the middle of the tread on slingers or trail dr's is much more spread out and thus lets them hook onto the edge of things.

I guess the tires could also just need to be broken in, but thats why i wanted to make this post and find out about your experiences with them.

Just thinking maybe there is a trick to driving them or to their setup to make them perform a little better. I could climb some rougher looking stuff like crazy, and then any sort of smoother surface it seemed like I had no traction at all. (albeit it was at the beach and tidal pools so they were getting wet at times also but pantablo had trail drs running on his rig in the same area and was having less trouble on certain lines)

Mine are great,I am running MSD 1.9 beadlocks with no foams and no air holes and 4oz of wt. in the front wheels . My rig will make lines that it wouldn't before.

Hmm. Maybe I should try running them foamless.

What does your whole rig weigh you are running them on? I am at around 6.5lbs

At least now that I have beadlocks I can change things without having to soak tires in acetone or throw them in the oven.

Good to know I love the scale look of these and I happen to have a set of the new MSD aluminum 1.9's coming. Your on the soft compound right?

It seams like the heavier your rig is the better for these.

Yes sir,it works great I would compare it to airing down a 1:1 tire on a beadlock wheel around 10 to 12 psi.

Keep in mind I was also running about 2-1/2oz front and 3/4oz rear wheel weights. And I'm sure the new tires need to be scrubbed in a bit. When you get back we'll go out again and do some more testing...

I dont know how my added wheel weights compare to the weight of your CAC alum wheels though.
