why did both of you line up the tread blocks when you narrowed them? the originals have their treadblocks offset 1/2 a treadblock.

Because it looked cooler. No other reason really....I did think having a full step ladder going across might work better but basically it came down to how it looked. I also siped mine.

Hey guys, the narrowing jobs look good by both of you. The only thing I might want to bring up here is that by lining up the treads as you have the lateral traction will suffer some. Depending on what that terrain is where you crawl it could be a lot or very little. David

David, you're absolutely correct. These tires do not have as much side bite as other tires. I don't think they have much less than the unmodified masher though. It's not horrible though since the cut lug and also siping the tire gives it a lot of extra grip. They do have a ton of forward bite, especially on wet rock. They work really well here in Washington with the sandy river rock and glacier till that we have here. Once it's dried up though it's time to switch to something else. Just where I go to crawl you have to be worried about the tires loading up with sand and debris. Run something like the Rock Claws and they are loaded up and useless within 2-5 minutes...these Mashers go all day.
