| ![]() ![]() I'm a hardcore Giant Trac fan. Finding them has become difficult as time goes on. Some of my back-up set have so much CA on the beads, I don't think I could re-mount them. I've also got a set still glued to the damaged rims. My knuckle packs have almost no clearance with stock Clod wheels. The new 1500 mah 2/3A's I just built up have even less. I've been looking at new tire/rim options for awhile now. Beadlocks would be nice and some 40's would give lots of room for knuckle packs. What to do ???? Make some 40 Tracs. I started with some Axial 8-Hole oversized beadlocks, TTR 17mm CYD adapters, and an old set of Giant Tracs. First I marked around the tire about 1/4" above the stock bead and cut them from the rims. Next, the hard part, I loaded the tire into the bead channel. Finally I mounted the rings. This took some time but was well worth it !!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I LOVE THEM !!!!! ![]() |

But I agree, they don't wear out very fast, and work great on a variety of surfaces. | |

| These work PERFECT !!!! As good as stock Giant Tracs but with beadlocks and more room for knuckle packs. Dad, James D, and I all run them and we discovered that old worn down GT's still work better than 40's Mashers or Moab XL's. After winning PARCs last comp with my Super, even Kevin's thinking about them. |

| Three things you GT guys. First: If you've got an old set of GTs on a thrashed set of rims; or just have way too much CA glue on the bead you can pop 'em in the oven at about 150 farenheit for 10 or so minutes (I think - tip courtesy of CKRC Hobby) !!!MAKE SURE TO WATCH THEM, TIRES CAN MELT!!! When you pull them out (be careful they will be hot) the tires should pull right off the rim. While they're still hot the CA glue should come off as well. Second: Just an idea, I'm not sure this can be done, but couldn't you guys just make a mold of the GT tire, melt down some other tire (something close to the same compound as the GT) and keep them or sell them. I know I'd buy a set if they worked. Third, but CERTAINLY NOT last: Somebody could make a petition to bring back the Giant Trac tires and get people to agree to it and then send it into Pro-Line. (The two reasons I can't do this is because I have no clue where to start or where to go from there and because somebody who's sponsored by Pro-Line Racing could have more "leverage or impact".) |
