They will be used with Proline Mashers or Moabs XL...and so far have read tons on both ,the things I don't know about them are these; #1 overall price to make them usable with a Clod (including adapters/wideners/tire cutting etc,I do know the XTM is cheaper for just the wheel) #2 stuff I know ; my opinion is that the ProLine Cheyenne is the ugliest wheel I have ever seen, so I would have to dye or spray the chrome black if i got some and if its doable? Thorns are not sold by any of the leading crawler vendors. Why? #3 more stuff I don't know ; what mods like tire and wheel cutting and other fabrication needs to be done to make them both fit the Clod axle? #4 final conclusion which is more worth the money and the effort spent?

I own a set of both style of wheels. As far as the Pro-Line Cheyennes go, easy off oven cleaner should remove the chrome. From there you may be able to dye them black by boiling them. I am not certain on that though, as the plastic could be of a different compound and not really given to excepting dye. Axial makes a 40 series / super size beadlock in black with a 17mm hex, BTW. As for the 23mm size, my two Losi LST2's are set up with the large 23mm hex and it made sense to me, to set my super up that way. That way I have more rim and tire options. I have stripped small hexes in the past in both 14mm & 20mm size. I have not with 23mm. Both of the smaller hex sizes were on nitro racing trucks though, not a comp rock crawler so that may be irrelevant. It's obvious that the sponsored veterans on the forum use the 14mm and 17mm size with no problems, so I don't think that should be an issue. - My Cheyennes are narrowed. - My Thorns are not. - The 14mm set up is probably cheaper in the long run and will offer you more rim options. - No mods are need to the rims to have them fit a clod, once you purchase the hex adapters. The answers to your other questions are in the forum and would be found using the search feature. Good luck.

Another thing to note about the XTM thorns is that they are no longer being made. So, buy up any stock you can find now, as soon they won't be available at all!
