Default 2.2 to 1.9 for comp

I was wondering how this worked out. In 1:1 crawling more side wall is better. So I was thinking, why not shrink some 2.2s for 1.9 rims, get more sidewall traction and better tire flex.
I've seen the other threads of people doing it, but it seems like just for scale rigs.

Jaynen is running reduced 2.2 stompers and finds the carcass is stiffer. tires dont deflect as much.

If you do what you're thinking, you dont get more sidewall. The distance from the bead to the tread remains the same.

the two tires on the left are Badlands. The far left is a standard 2.2, next to it is a reduced (and narrowed) 1.9.

how is the one reduced to a 1.9? what i'm thinking is taking the sidewall and bead from a 1.9, then cut out the bead and sidewall of a 2.2. Place the 1.9 bead and side wall directly into the cut 2.2. it would have to give you more side wall

Some people have done what you said and graft in the sidewall from another tire. Im not sure it would really help you tho as crawler tires are already too flexy and soft and can wrap up which is why you need proper foam
