Default 1.9 Stompers dont fit 1.9 wheel?

I got some 1.9 rock stompers and the wont fit on my hpi stock car wheels. It seems like the bead is too wide to fit in the bead area on the wheel. I cut a little bit off the bead but it still doesnt fit right. Also one thing i saw is that on the inside of the wheel, the bead seats fine in the slot. So has anyone seen this before? and what could i do to get the bead to fit right? Here is a pic of how it isnt fitting. You can see the tire bead sticking out of the bead.

Those wheels are designed to fith HPI's Vintage tires.

The lip you see there allows a portion of the Vintage tire's sidewall to fit over the wheel to give the look of a smaller diameter wheel.

Well, WTF??? Why does TCS have them on their ****ing website if they dont even work with 1.9 tires?? Thats f'ed up. Seriously, shouldnt they say somehing along the lines of... DONT WORK WITH 1.9 TIRES. God damn, im pissed now because i cant afford to keep buying crap for this damn stuff.

Ok, sorry about that. But come on, how do other people get them to work? Ive seen them on 1BJB's clone, Nluvwithxlr8ing's X-trail ford, and a ton others. How did they get them to work?

Oh, and also if these are a different wheel than the others, why does TCS have them all listed as the same type of wheel? I got the ones 6 down.

Edit rockmonster, im using the 0 offset wheels. Also rockmonster, where did you order yours from?

Meh, I'm using the vintage wheels on my crawler with rock stompers. Other then the front face bead being a little shorter then normal I don't really see why they wouldn't work. I'd just pick up some 1.9 rock rings if your that worried about it. Bead just is shallow on the face makes the tire look bigger and the rim look smaller. A little glue and it's in normal operation. How much did you trim from the tires bead? I usually flip the tires inside out for easy cutting.

if you glue the tire on and center the wheel while the glue is drying they work fine, but if you dont plan on glueing then yes that wheel doesnt work right. they offer this wheel because of the deep dish offset look.

Those wheels work great with every tire other then the Rock stompers. Rock stompers just have a huge chunky bead.

I dont want to use rock rings because the 1:1 i am modeling my rig after doesnt have them. Im not concerned about the look because this is gonna be a runner, not a shelf queen. But i really wanted to do some testing with the tires before gluing since the stompers are known to be not that great of a tire. Like mess with foam setups and stuff. I dont mind cutting the bead down because they are going to be glued on, i wont need to take them off. But i just really wanted to do testing and i wont be able to do that now.

yea i noticed that the bead is kinda massive, like as big as my 2.2s. seems usual for rc4wd...

modding the wheels with the lip from another is a really cool looking fix for the problem.

I love the look of the chrome outer rim. I think I ran across the thread that shows you how to do it is in the 1.9 scale section. Can someone confirm that?

So just cutting some of the bead then centering while glueing should fix the problem?? I do see alot of people using these set ups so it can't be that big of a problem.

Norcal - I've always had good service from the vendor I bought them from and since there seems to be a viable fix, I'd rather not disclose the name of the vendor I purchased this setup from.

After cutting a ton off the bead on the tire, they are fitting a little better. Im still not happy with the fit and i think ill need to get some thicker glue than i have to take up some space from the gap. I like the look of those modded wheels but i dont want the tires to stick that far out from the body.

it all depends on how much you cut off the donor wheel, mine are rather wide but you could cut it right at the bead and make it only about an 1/8 wider

its in exsesivefires chevy truggy thread

these one's have full beads on both sides and this is what I use most of the time. one other nice feature is they are the cheapest ones.

I asked Kevin to carry those at TCS. I love those wheels, only tire I ran with them was a reduced losi claw and they worked fine with plenty of glue. Keep working on them Brian you can get them to work

Those wheels have worked just fine with every 1.9 tire that I have reduced to use. Perfect fit. I have a set of crushers with the same wheels and sure, they dont fit perfectly but what in this hobby works to perfection.

Trimming the bead like you have done will help but just use some shoo goo to hold the tire to the wheel. It is thick like you said you needed and you can take it off of the tire and wheel with no problem and do no harm to the wheel nor tire. This way you can experiment with foam setups like you wanted to.

Problem solved , or you can do what slobin has suggested with the lip of the wheel

I actually prefer those wheels over the other one. Getting a 1.9 rock ring and gluing it on will finish up the look real nice.
