Default Memory foams dont wear out? hmmm......

me and constantmotion were talking a few minutes ago about his Aces doughnuts and he thinks his are worn out b/c they are responding so fast just from squishing the tire while on the wheel.

i always heard memory foams dont wear out, then i decided to squish on mine, ....and i be damd....mine felt like i had regular foams in them also.

so i pulled mine apart and made this little video.

I din't think they wore out either, but that is a huge difference. Only one month, that was fast.

Just curious, were these tires subjected to getting wet then drying out?

haha, yes they have been wet. mine fell into the water and was completely submerged at the first comp.

i took them out and let them dry for about 5 days before putting them back in and have been running them since

On the bright side, I just found room for improvement on my rig!!

im thinking of trying the xtreme-rc ones... one good thing about them is they dont have all that fuzzy crap all over them when they come outta the box

well how bout that SACCO, i beat you this weekend WITHOUT memory foams!! lol

Of course they are going to wear out... you don't think the memory foam pillows or beads stay the same after 100+ lb people sleeping on them?

new weird finding........

i just squished them down the same way again, and the old foam is actually slowing down. its getting closer (still not near the same) to the new one

What the Hell?

i know the old one was even faster right when i pulled it out of the tire than the way it was in the video

what do we gotta start letting them air out in between competitions???

Like you need any more of an edge with your rig and driving skill.

Very nice video by the way. I have three sets of the ACES. I have done my best to never soak them in water, but you were at Children's Park and you saw all the water there. My son has soaked his set a couple of times. He took the ACES out of the bead locks to let them dry. He's had to do it twice. I wonder if water effects every brand the same. Maybe they should make inserts out of the gel stuff instead of using foams.

cspyy, I'm just trying to run down the problem here. Do you know exactly when the foams started turning yellow. In the vid it looks like the older foams are very yellow in color. Also not knowing the process used by Rizzo in manufacturing the Aces, is it possible the new foams have some sort of lubricant in them that could have been washed out when they got wet? Maybe this could have also changed the rebound characteristics. I'm just grasping at straws here but trying to figure it out. It seems the airtight method would greatly undermine the purpose of the memory foams IMHO.

my brother had the same effect with the water and so when we took the tires apart last time we soaked the memory foam in acetone and it removed the yellow and made them look like new and the perform just as good at the first time
